There are always exceptions of course, but in general. Ariel should have red hair, it's pretty much iconic....and seems wrong for her not to. Therefore, make her green or blue (red goes really well with both colors!!), I don't think yellow would work very well, and I'm gonna nix purple (keep that for the sea witch), but dn't make her black...unless you do some kinda cool obsidian black with a dark red maybe, but...that wouldn't be very playful.
