It did okay, but it didn't exactly light the world on fire. I thought it was fantastic.

Like how often do you get a weighty, bloody murder-fest that isn't A) packed to the brim with pointless CGI, B) punctuated by a bunch of shitty chud actors acting out cliches and spewing out complete shit, C) marred by production values that plague "horror culture" movies like Killjoy and Evil Bong, and D) bog every fucking thing down with """horror comedy""" (also tied to "horror culture" shit)? This movie was heavy, gritty and balls-to-the-wall.

I was never the biggest Halloween fan from the little I saw of the series, but I like a good horror movie. Halloween 2018 had its cheesy moments, but it's leagues better than other horror reboots and it made something of an effort to be grounded, terrifying and tense.

Again, it didn't do a bad job as far as ratings go. But in the court of public opinion, this movie is considered worse than Ant-Man and the Wasp. I like Marvel movies well enough, but that movie was as slap-dash and by-the-numbers as Marvel's ever been. It's such a bummer to see one of the best slashers in years get trumped by the blandest Marvel movie, y'know. Even if ratings don't matter, that's disheartening.

I hate horror movies.

I liked Halloween 2018.

Wasn't great, but it was pretty good.

Like my only experience with horror movie reboots is the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot where Freddy is explicitly a horny pedophile, Fright Night which wasn't even worth watching for David Tennant, and Halloween 2018. And Halloween is head and shoulders above both of the others.

"Halloween is the sequel to Halloween but not the sequel to Halloween. Technically it's Halloween 2 but ignores the events of Halloween 2 and Halloween 2.

It's the first Halloween film to bring back Jamie Lee Curtis, except for Halloween 2, Halloween 7, and Halloween 8.

But finally the series has brought back John Carpenter in some capacity for the first time except Halloween 2 and Halloween 3.

It's also the first Halloween film to ignore the previous films in the franchise's timeline except for Halloween 3, Halloween 4 (which ignores Halloween 3), Halloween 7 (which ignores Halloween 3, Halloween 4, Halloween 5, and Halloween 6).

Aside from ALL that it's a totally fresh and new Start for the Halloween Franchise!"

id say since its such a well traveled series, 10/10 Halloween is pretty much impossible. This has be the closest to that id say tho...

One of the only things I know about the Halloween franchise outside of the basics is its spotty history with sequels. But whether it's peak Halloween or not, it's genuinely a great horror movie.

Like Christ there's some swill out there on behalf of companies like Full Moon Pictures and Blumhouse - even though Blumhouse produced this latest Halloween movie, it doesn't feel like a Blumhouse picture. It stands on its own as one of the better slashers of the 21st century, and undoubtedly one of the best horror reboots - at least from my perspective.

That's always been a staple in 80's slashers. Final girl trope

I wouldn't call it girl power because they presented her as a broken, paranoid woman who was ruining her family with her craziness (who just happens to end up being right).
