That's because life is controversial these days.
I mean, people have gotten away with saying offensive shit for a long time and adapting is hard but the past like 8-ish years has been a shitshow of hurt feelings and whining in everything from gaming to mainstream media. A combination of feature creep, devs promising too much and gamers wanting things that can't easily being delivered.
