It's so funny how many different possible answers there are to this

Officially his last two albums were all mostly done by one guy, Kevin Parker/ Tame Impala himself

But he himself consider it a "music project" that applies to live performances too

And of course, people are quick to say he's the last great rock band, even though his last album was more electronic/psychedelic than anything

https://www.thefader.com/2015/10/07/tame-impala-last-great-rock-band

Either way, why the fuck does he have absolutely zero songs in Rock Band 4 at the moment

Well I must be a normie because I can't think of anyone else that has the same name for both a solo artist and a group

Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails come to mind. But bizarrely, there is one other guy considered a parmanent studio recording member as of 2016, now.

To the topic, I consider TI to be a solo artist in that the vast majority of people will only really experience Parker's solo work (albums, streaming, etc). Plus, a live show can often have different musicians than just who recorded on the album.

Atticus Ross. Took a looooong time for him to move up from session/live musician to official band member as Trent treats NIN albums as a solo outfit.

Doesn't he collaborate with one other member of the touring band at least? I thought the song writing credits are like 90% or more the one guy, but their possibly biggest hit to date, Elephant, was written by another member.

The third is his most popular and it's completely different from the first two but in a good way

He goes from psychedelic rock to electro-pop and turns out he's really fucking good at it

First time I heard Let It Happen I had to sit down lol

Yeah like I said, normie so I didn't know about any of those lol

Except Bon Iver and IIRC Justin Vernon credits himself separately when needed
