I mean, I agree that it isn't a big deal and is a nitpick too.

I'm just saying, it's weird to get upset that people might complain about this. It's a pretty noticeable thing and therefore of course people are going to complain about it.

I'd also argue that I've seen plenty of people complain when swords/weapons that should dismember don't in other games too. To act as if this is a Star Wars centric complaint in general is just not true.

Get it? Cut? Like dismemberment.

Why couldn't they just add it? And dont say "they need to keep it PG".

Why do they need to add it?
Like, if they did; cool beans. But they didn't (to humanoids) and it's, like, okay... Whatever lol
Doesn't necessarily make that huge of an impact either way.

Because it's what lightsabers do. They slice things. If you were hit in the head with a lightsaber your head would be cut in 2.

I dont remember dismemberment when Luke was slaughtering people on Jabas barge.

Come on people. I mean I love star wars but get a grip. Every once in a while in a dramatic scene theres be a dismemberment, sure, like Luke and anakin and their limbs. But theres a reason droids were the main bad guys in the prequels. You cant just go around chopping up hundreds of dudes.

Some people are losing perspective of what star wars is. It was always primarily aimed at a younger audience, and as a man in his 30s I'm okay with that.

I guess you can blame George Lucas for creating a universe that's largely kept PG except for the laser swords that can cut through anything.

Devs have a choice. Maintain the tone and audience that the franchise has been created for, or satisfy your dismemberment boner.

Not that goofy considering there are countless other games out there where there's no visible damage with whatever crazy lethal weapon you're using. This is no different.

I think that's how Jedi Outcast worked, but it had a really really low chance of happening and it was only for particular enemy models.

The Force Unleashed games were one console generations ago and they didn't have it. Hell, we got two Battlefront games this generation and they don't have it either. This is just one of things were it's just a want from people much more than any kind of need.

Honestly I'd say the fact that Stormtroopers take more than one direct hit is worse than no dismemberment tbqh

Unless that's changed. I havent been following the game much on account of the annoying lead.

But yeah too bad disney is stuck trying to mimick the OT so much lightsabers work better with robots when it comes to ratings.

When you get down to it, it also underlines the fact that maybe from a narrative standpoint lightsabers aren't meant to transfer well into video game mechanics.

In the OT, the lightsaber was literally framed as an elegant weapon from a more civilized age. To watch it chop up enemies left and right would kind of tarnish that message and the idea of Jedi being monastic guardians of peace. When I was younger, I always thought Yoda and Palpatine were themselves beyond using lightsabers by choice, having gone further above in their respective teachings.

Then we got the PT and lightsabers were in fact chopping things (droids) left and right like it was a video game, and Yoda and Palpy each had one of their own and I feel that's another knock against the PT from a personal standpoint.

Anyway, that's my philosophical take on it.

Making Jedi into gods was a mistake in general. It's why I find Jedi shit boring in star wars. Theres nothing that should be able to stop them based on prequels basic feats.

It's also an issue with old EU I hear but I never followed it besides shadows of the empire.

Yeah shit wont happen cause they want to have a lower rating to sell to kids.

Its equally as silly that you try to act like a lightsaber not dismembering isnt weird cause the films were not filled with non stop dismemberment

Seems like another case of we should just ignore people who dont like or dislike the same as us

Jedi Outcast, Academy and Force Unleashed II all had lightsaber dismemberment.

There's no reason this shouldn't have that either. At the very least there is the visual burn/ cauterize effect left on the bodies when they are slashed in Fallen Order.

I know Outcast and Academy had a very, very low chance at cutting a hand/arm off if you weren't using mods. But it's so infrequent, it hardly counts.

I played through FUII once, a long time ago and I can't say I remember dismemberment. But if it did have it, it's just further proof that that's a pointless feature because it sure didn't enchanced that painfully mediocre game.
Meanwhile, there are other Star Wars games where you can play with a lightsaber, but can't cut people up that most would consider far better.

perhaps cheapening it down a way for sadists to get their rocks off on chopping arms off might drift away from the message the game is trying to get across.

Its an easy example to go to on how everything about this game is so clearly made to appeal to the lowest common denominator (in this case: as low rating as possible so all the kiddies can get it for christmas or whenever it comes out) rather than a pure Star Wars experience.

Not that I really care, everything else about the game looks horrible enough I wasnt even thinking of this until a friend pointed it out to me the other day.
