Light upgraded his new assistant robot Rock into MegaMan to counter Wily. From then onward Wily would typically escape and then either build his own robots, or reprogram others as well as disguise himself and blackmail others into doing his dirty work. As he and Light aged they began work on their greatest creations. Light built X while Wily was working on a virus and robot of his own. Eventually both men passed away and over time this led into the X series were a scientist named Cain dug up a capsule containing X and used his schematics to build an all new line of robots called Reploids. Peace was short lived however as Wily's virus got loose and many of the Reploids went rogue. They were dubbed Mavericks. However the head of the newly created Maverick Hunters named Sigma succumbed to the virus and started a revolt.
