They probably just adjusted the grading scale to accommodate for it.

50-100% = A
40-50% = B
30-40% = C
20-30% = D
0-20% = D-

I don't complain about anymore now that my kids have both moved on from basic math in school. But holy shit when they showed me how the school taught math with common core, I was like forget that stupid shit, this is much easier. And they both caught on faster with the traditional math process.

I read about Common Core on the internet, and it's basically how I already do math in my head. LOL at the parents who are butthurt that they can't do it.

Yeah. I work in education and to me it seems like a way calculate it in your head or to do estimations more accurately. When we do it on paper, it's more of a traditional approach.

My daughter's teacher teaches it the traditional way even though I don't know if she's technically allowed to. But it's cool because my kid is getting a much better grasp of math this year.
