Apparently it's going to be an expansion to the game rather than a standalone sequel. Honestly, this is coming like 2 years too late, and Blizz just went full evil, so sad to say, I probably won't be playing this.

When publishers want to rebrand a game to reignite interest without actually making a new game they have give it a new subtitle along with a patch.

The difference is Overwatch is currently in decline, where Fornite isn't.

Fornite is just continuing their success, Overwatch is trying to regain popularity, as well as try and brush off attention from the China controversy.

Oh yeah, I meant more like they would make a mode like Fortnite (in hopes of bringing back players and attracting new ones). Story mode would interest me, but I play through those like once.

Overwatch has been in decline for a while now. The summer it came out was amazing, but ever since then, they've struggled to keep players patch-over-patch. Competitive mode has always been a mess, and every so often they'll try to switch things up, but rarely do they ever really fix something, and often times just introduce other problems. Many of the recent hero and map additions have felt lacking. Paris was with out a doubt, the worst map they ever added to the game. It felt like it wasn't really tested.

Also, I usually login for the events. I have not logged in at all for the current Halloween event despite it being my favorite event. I'm just so sick of Blizzard and want them to know it, and I hope others did the same.

The general reason people believe this, as well as the other Blizzard "leaks", is it's believed Blizzard is going to try and pile on the "big" announcements at Blizzcon to try and divert attention away from the China fiasco.

it is effectively just an update to overwatch one, seeing as the pvp will be the exact same between the two of them, with overwatch 1 getting everything 2 is.

except if you want whatever the single player stuff is, notice how they barely even touched on it, you have to buy an entirely new game for it.

Yeah it sounds weird. It shares PvP servers with OW1. So, really it sounds like if you want PvP you buy OW1, if you want PvE you buy OW2. And both are full priced games. Oh joy. :P

and also you have no idea what the pve stuff is since what they showed was them just running on a overwatch pvp map hitting three dudes and then scenechange to them doing that on a different map.

and even when the trailer ended, the dude came back on stage and was like "okay so cool, now lets talk about pvp stuff"

guessing it's probably gonna be like left 4 dead, considering they pretty much impede TF2 already. there will probably be single player but it'll be the same as multiplayer co-op but with occasionally frustrating bots for teammates.

So Overwatch 2 is a free update to Overwatch 1 with better graphics and an option to buy a story mode DLC. I was kinda hoping for more of a reset since I enjoy playing OW but never got to experience the game when it was new and fresh and everybody was learning and discovering strats and stuff.
