And what was your first one?

I felt left out when all the kids back in junior high were talking about DBZ, since I didn't have cable. I think My Neighbor Totoro was the first anime I saw, in 1996. I remember also renting Tekken 2 from Blockbuster and playing it with my brother past midnight after watching Totoro.

Otherwise, the main anime I saw in the 90s were Pokemon and whatever my brother was into (Slayers, Tenchi Muyo).

I caught guyver on tape at a blockbuster video and was hooked, then ninja scroll. Tried to like ghost in the shell but it wasn't good IMO.

Fatal fury the motion picture was good, and Tekken was absolute trash. Sf2 the animated movie was awesome. Sf2v started out great but quickly started sucking when Ryu and Sagat have a prison romance.

I think I saw that before Totoro, so that would be my first. It just came on at 2:30 and I didn't get home until 3 or 3:30, so I mostly missed it. I mainly saw it when we had half-days, which was maybe 2 days a year.

Samurai Pizza Cats, and whatever channel ran DBZ before CN picked it up.

The first time I went full binge weaboo was when I was 8 or so, when my dad rented the complete series of the original Voltron, from Blockbuster. I watched the entire thing 3 times that week. My parents were sick of it, I think they returned it early just to not hear the theme anymore.

Is that considered anime or are you joking? I legit watched that when I was a kid and never considered it anything close to anime.
