There is nothing interesting or unique about Snoke, from the moment he appeared people were calling him discount Palpatine.

For better or worse Palpatine is a great villain, and until a new and unique bad guy as powerful as him or as interesting as him can step up to the plate he will remain the top dog for big bad in SW.

Palpatine but you have to swallow your pride and take into account the prequel trilogy for it to really work out. He didn't do a whole lot in the original trilogy.

I hope these Snoke votes are meme votes. Palpatine objectively is way more significant. He single handedly operated both sides in a galaxy wide war and brought an end to the Republic, which had stood for tens of thousands of years.

We saw Palpatine in ROTJ inspire serious fear and respect from Vader and all the other imperials, we also saw Palpatine use force lighting a brand new power at the time never seen before.

Palpatine killed Vader/Anakin before being thrown to his death showing he was not going down without a fight.

Snoke insulted Kylo, throws Rey around like a rag doll (I admit seeing Rey get tossed around like she isnt shit was probably my favorite scene in the ST so far), but then he is killed so embarrassingly taken completely by surprise as if he could not tell Kylo was tired of his verbal abuse.

There's probably an interesting story to be told in which Snoke ascends to the throne and keeps the empire together after massive losses, but instead we got episode 4 remix. Palp wins it because of prequels.

Snoke had potential. He managed to undue all the work the Rebellion had accomplished, brought back the surviving Imperial fleet, indirectly caused the Skywalker/Solo family to fall apart, Luke to reject the force, and turned one of them to the dark side.

Hes central to all the drama and hes just killed off right away. The Last Jedi only expanded on the connections between the Original Trilogy & the Sequel Trilogy with regard to Luke & Ben.

The way Snoke talked about Han Solo made me think he was responsible for his wounds. There could have been some backstory about him having originally been good and through series of events ends up wounded & disfigured in a blast which he blamed Han Solo for.

But whatever, bring on Palpatine

It worked for Vader because he was a conflicted character from the moment he learned about Luke in ESB, and because Luke so strongly believed he could turn good again.

But Sid had neither of those, so it just comes across as if he's incompetent.
