We don't want local law enforcement doing glorified photo ops with our children when know at the end of the day, this is how they'll be treated. This is why we give our children "The Talk" about police. These are the actions that sow mistrust and resentment. Law enforcement literally do this to themselves in terms of public perception. His department should have publicly condemned him BY NAME and he should never be allowed a badge again.

These stories are depressing because we'll never see any consequences for those cops. When their names are revealed, it's also alongside the fact that they got paid leave or something like that.
The only time there's be consequences for cops doing whatever they want to black and brown people is Amber Guyger who murdered a black guy and claimed she mistakenly went into the wrong apartment. And we all know the follow-up to that story.

There are two general camps: those that want to do good, and those that want to be bullies. The latter tend to be the ones who have a 'fire first and question later' mentality, or who end up beating down schoolchildren in order to make themselves feel powerful.

Christensen said the girl had violated several school rules after standing on a school bus, taking too many milks at the school cafeteria, and picking at a sign taped to a door. Christensen also alleged that the girl had assaulted the schools principal, a claim that has since been proven to be untrue.

Ok so the standing on the bus thing was a legit concern but the rest of them were pretty bullshit and one flat out lie.

The root issue here is, why the fuck are you calling the cops for a misbehaving eleven-year-old girl?

The kid did not need to have that level of force applied, but she needed to be detained. While being detain she resisted.

The kid was no saint though. 36 minutes of her being unwilling to comply with basic requests from the school before this happened. She had been disputing class to the point were the teachers were unable to teach, she needed an escort to ride home with her on the bus because she was constantly causing trouble, stealing food in the cafeteria, and she wouldn't listen to any teacher or admin at the school. She refused to wait in an office for her mother, wondered the halls wasting tons of people time. She complained about not having a path out of the door while she was halfway out the door, when he admin told her there were plenty of paths she said OK and proceeded to walk through where the admin was standing.

You know who wasn't getting tackled by the police? All the kids sitting in class not disrupting the school. This kid didn't need a talk about the dangers of the police, she needed a talk about how to not be a delinquent.

It's not just the color of their skin, either. Kids who are dressed in rags, or who just aren't attractive, are also treated poorly. And it's not just America. America isn't even top 10, or hell even 20, of the most racist countries.

Excessive force. By all accounts she was not being physically violent and was about to leave the school grounds regardless.

The level of force would be reasonable of the student was acting violently, but given all the info we have, this was excessive.
