I just don't see the point. Like I don't buy apple, but I also have no interest in reading and engaging in a sub about it. I'd understand if you're just voicing your opinion on a general r/phones (idk if that's a real sub) or r/technology subreddit. It's like people who go on game boards only to bitch and moan about how much they don't like the game. Maybe once, ok. But sticking around makes you look like an attention seeker.

Kind of a moot point though because that is essentially what reddit is. There has to be a mechanism that controls the content in a content aggregator, and they went with user voting. Otherwise it's going to be sponsor driven, or mod driven, or whatever.

This. I always roll my eyes when I see someone post "I don't know why you're being downvoted".

That said, downvoting is an utterly pointless feature. At least upvoting actually serves a purpose. I still use neither of them though.

When you think about the situation that reddit creates, it's basically like the "best of" list from spotify, or the music on the radio, or rotten tomatoes "best" movies.

No one really loves it, but everyone likes it just enough to make it the number 1 thing everyone likes the most. So the meddle of the pack wins out every time.
