There are 2 things going on.

The lottery has 2 rare "Epic" items that people actually want.

However, 4 items are given the label "Epic", including the 2 common things nobody wants.

The drop for "Epic" items is listed as 42%.

But that's not for all items with the "Epic" label. They are claiming they are showing you the drop rates, but not saying those are the same drop rates for every item in the "Epic" category.

It should be noted that some countries have made laws saying that loot boxes must show drop rates. This is basically a loop hole for that.

But that's not where it ends, a test run by multiple youtubers showed it wasn't actually possible to get the 2 desired "Epic" items until you've used $200 on that loot box event, at which point you're guaranteed those 2 desired "Epic" items.

Doesn't matter. They need numbers for community and investors. No matter the game, if only 10%(being generous here) will play a game, they will step back and rethink.

You underestimate how much some of those people will spend on the 'game', if they still continue to use it, the company is getting most of the profit still and that is all they will care about.

If the profits are 90% with a 90% smaller audience, they'll rethink how much they can specialise on farming whales rather than pretending to be a game for a wider audience.

You underestimate how much some of those people will spend on the 'game', if they still continue to use it, the company is getting most of the profit still and that is all they will care about.

Delta you are smarter than this. If you are a whale type player are you going to put forth interest and money on a dead game? I put money into the games I play, but never a game with no one playing it. Who would dump thousands of dollars on a game if hardly anyone is on to play it. CoD is literally a multiplayer game, why would you put money for loot boxes if you barely have anyone to play with?

I will always put a little money into any free game I play. I believe people deserve money for their work so I will atleast put what I think the value of the game would have retailed.

Some games I wish had better bang for your buck. Like PoE has hardly anything worth buying for example.

Man Maplestory was huge when I was in highschool. Almost all the "gamers" played it. and it was completely BS that their items expired.

Yeah I went back a few months ago and it's so different. You can get to fourth job in a weekend now. I remember when it took a weekend to get 10% exp on the higher levels.

Yeah Im over loot boxes. I spent a bunch of money on Gears 4 Onyx skins and I got the same character four times even though Ive read that you should be guaranteed to get each one once. And I got Onyx for a ton of weapons except the ones I wanted - Gnasher and Lancer. So I dont partake in these things anymore.

If the overall community declines then there's less incentive for whales to play.
