I'm not completely terrible at interviews but I haven't had one in a few years and am generally shy and a little awkward under the spotlight. Any general advice?

Did you do research on the company? Did you look up what might be asked? Did you prepare answers for the obvious questions e.g. tell us about yourself?

I've always found that if I'm well prepared then that enables me to give confident answers.

This is good, really helps you to not be nervous. Most interviews get turned down, just a fact of life. If you're super nervous and whatnot, it could make them less comfortable when a lot of the time people just want someone chill who they think would be a "good fit" to their workplace.

Go into the interview with the assumption you've landed the job, and just need to know the specifics of what the job will entail to explore how you can best contribute to the company.

I can see how this works, but I go in assuming I already have the job, and this process is just part of it. I think the results are similar, but more positive.
