I'm from St Louis originally, we had generally the same cuisine as new Orleans, being sister cities from way back when they were both French cities, as well as soul food.

Quaker, which has nothing to do with the brand of Quaker oatmeal, or the Christian group, or geomancer spells.
Pronounced "quack-el", it's some mishmash of oats, milk, and basically whatever's left in the opened Goya cans in the back of the fridge. Pineapple, giant corn kernels, grapes, taro, Flinstones vitamins, who the fuck knows. Mi abuela called it "La Bomba", she fed it to me even before I had all my teeth, and I think it's why I'm the first person ever in the history of both my lineages to be above 6' and have shoulders wider than the fridge.
