Shame that the larger consequences for these repeated incidents can't be discussed here...

Why was that kid using such fowl racist language? Especially against an authority figure? I dont see his life going very well if thats his attitude. His father needs to sit him down and give him a stern talking to.

Clowning the TC for his tiresome gimmick isn't defending the kid in the article. Learn the difference.

What are they supposed to do? Make a policy that says you can only use racial slurs if you're black?

I know. And I see that point. But I am seeing the holistic picture here, not just this isolated incident. You always 'clown the TC for _______' when a TC (not necessarily this TC) brings up a news story about someone being racist to people with more melanin.

You don't certainly defend the particular act itself, but you do the thing I said above. Just an observation, man.

he was only repeating the slur to relay to the student to stop call him the n word you should be able to use *gasp* nuance in these type of situations and realize that is not the same as using a racially charged word in a demeaning manner.

Apparently, kid was misbehaving, principal asked for guard's help, kid says bad word, guard gets defensive and that gets him fired

explain how a black man getting fired for asking a student not to use racial slurs against him is "a kid saying bad things"

Did you read the topic title? Juvenile. TC is more focused on the fact that a random teen used a racial slur. Most normal adults would instead focus on the absurdity of the guard getting fired.

The guard obviously should not have been fired but I could have sworn I saw an article that said the kid was black as well. Which if that's the case, it seemed like he used it non-racially and then repeated it to get under his skin.

Zero-tolerance policies are terrible.

Well shit, you're right

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/briannasacks/marlon-anderson-madison-wisconsin-racial-slur

Marlon Anderson was fired from his position at Madison West High School last week after the security guard said the n-word during an incident with an unruly student. The 48-year-old, who has worked for the district for 11 years, was escorting a disruptive teenager out of the high school building on Oct.9.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the student, who is also black, had pushed the school's assistant principal and was shouting expletives at Anderson. In response to being called the n-word, the guard told the teen not to call him that and repeated the slur.

LOL, @FrisbeeDude just assumed the student was white because a racial slur was used. What a joke.

I agree, however many people don't share this sentiment and would crucify you for doing it. I don't blame them for having a zero tolerance policy even if the end results are shitty.

I absolutely blame them for using a zero tolerance policy. These things happen with such infrequency in such small numbers that an individualized approach is % warranted.

Stop impersonating the TC, guys. He couldn't run away from this topic fast enough once it was posted that the "juvenile anti-black" racist teen was in fact a black kid.

while black people can be racist against black people, I did, in fact, assume the student in question wasnt black. It happens.
