That deal they offered where you could buy a Season Pass for next year AND it would work for the rest of this season must have been more popular than they anticipated.

Cedar Point is one of the best, if not the best, amusement parks in the country.

This overlap between video game enthusiast and amusement park enthusiast always weirds me out. Not the first time I've seen it on Gamefaqs though. Saw some dudes on other board talk in great detail about Nintendo Land, and it's like "really?"

The Wii U game or the theme park?

This is pretty standard for theme park capacity.

That's been a pretty standard feature on Kings Island passes for years (they're owned by the same people so I assume it's the same at Cedar Point).

Cedar Fair owns Knotts here(they actually ruined the park when they first bought it, but they've been taking steps to fix it) and they run the same deal.

Why?
Rollercoaster Tycoon was huge back in the day!

Also this topic makes me sad that I won't make it to Knoebels for Hallo-fun this year.

It's truly baffling that there are so many theme parks in America with Snoopy characters running around.

King's Island used to have rides based on Paramount movies (Face/Off, Top Gun, Italian Job) and the kids zone was split between Nickelodeon AND Cartoon Network. How do you go from that level of branding to Peanuts characters?

If I recall correctly they got bought out and couldn't use the rights anymore

Correct. Paramount sold all their theme parks, so all the licensed stuff had to change. Worst change was probably Drop Zone -> Drop Tower, though Face/Off -> Invertigo is pretty rough too.

Also I really miss having the Star Trek TNG theme blaring by the entrance.

Yeah I mean I know why it happened it's just odd. I used to live about 40 minutes from King's Island so I went all the time.

I could understand if Paramount just wanted to get out of the theme park business but there's no way that Peanuts is more successful than Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network.

I'm guessing it's as simple as Cedar Fair didn't want to shell out for the rights on those, especially since I believe they already had the Peanuts licenses locked down. (Also of course Paramount and Nickelodeon are both owned by Viacom, which would've simplified that licensing deal in the same way Marvel now handles the majority of Star Wars comics.)

Paramount used to own it's own Amusement Parks.
Then they sold them and went certain branding. (And the awesome backwards coaster at Kings Dominion)

The Peanuts is huge anyway

Also calling it a closure is incorrect. It's merely no longer accepting new admissions. Closure would be some sort of end of all operations.

Generally, you dont want to be in a theme or amusement park at capacity anyway. Especially if they have some sort of upcharge front of the line pass like cedar fair parks all have. Unless you are basically willing to pay a price more than the cost of admission for front of the line access(This is not good value, theres plenty of low traffic days)
