Most of the movie is merely bad, but the ending is bonkers. Like half of the forest creatures die when the evil queen invites everyone to a wedding that's really a front so her androgynous evil soldier can play an organ that shoots out pumpkin bombs laced with WWI-esque poison gas while she makes orgasm faces the entire time (she's defeated when she falls off of a twenty foot tall balcony and the camera cuts away, so it's not even clear if she dies), and one of the main fairies just plain explodes. Then they defeat the queen and actually have the wedding, and everyone is happy and stuff even though thousands of people are dead, the queen is turned into a goat and everyone laughs like the end of a 90s sitcom episode, and I couldn't tell if this was meant to be a joke or not.

I thought that if it ended on maleficent dieing it was a great movie

Haha I thought most of the movie was enjoyable. I was surprised Disney was willing to go so dark by killing off a bunch of faeries and some people. Ending on that note was definitely a mistake though. Phillip's mother straight up murdered some fairfolk and all she gets is transfiguration? I get why they couldn't kill her off because that would defeat the purpose of Maleficent's development, but she should've at least been imprisoned by the end.
