i only played budokai 1 and 2 and they were both some of the worst fighting games ive ever played. like everyone had the same badly animated normals, flying looked hilariously clunky, the flashy ki stuff either looked bland or was a little cutscene

1 had some appeal to me mainly for the story mode alternate history stuff, but 2 replaced it with that stupid board game thing. unless 3 kept that i cant imagine its worse than 2

As far as fighting games go, there are way better games with actual depth and shit. The Budokai games were basically just dumb casual fun that were fine for what they were. Yeah, the board game thing was a step down to the actual story mode in the first game, but as far as gameplay go, B2 actually reasonably built on what made the gameplay in the first game serviceable, like a decent sequel should.

The problem with B3 was that they added a bunch of dumb shit for the worse in terms of gameplay.
Dumb shit like being able to teleport behind someone who punished you. The idea is you have to press circle (because I played it on PS2 like a normal person) at a very particular time to pull it off. However, it's just as effective if you mashed circle. So you basically get rewarded for being outplayed.

Teleporting costed 3 ki bars so it wasn't spammable at all.

Don't even get me started on that stupid rush bullshit. It made playing against the CPUs on the hardest difficulty damn near impossible because they would spam and abuse the hell out of it constantly. And they would always win the mini game that came with it because they were the computer. Artificial difficulty out the ass.
And teleporting is just dumb in general. Wasn't hard at all to build ki back.

B2 was a far more balanced game because of the lack of these dumbass gimmicks.

Thats Dimps fault, by only having one audio file... because theres no distinction in Japanese.

...though it does make you wonder why Funi and Clarke didnt just put in Perfect Cells clip instead, so instead of Perfect Cell with Imperfect Cell Voice Clips, it would be the opposite.
