Current Events > Got traffic court in less than 24 hours and I'm nervous as shit, AMA

(+) Yeah! (+)

-Driving to the DMV
-Driving on a very narrow road
-Kid runs out suddenly from between two parked cars
-Kid gets hit, obviously
-Naturally Im freaking the fuck out, call 911
-Little did I know I was calling 911 for myself, I black out seconds later and hit the ground hard
-Spend Labor Day weekend in the hospital hooked up to all sorts of shit
-Kid gets monitored and released that night
-Leave hospital and want to move on with life, receive two arbitrary tickets
-Obviously Im not fucking paying it because I dont think I fucked up whatsoever

Round 1 of court, they want to bring the kid in for questioning.

Round 2 of court, they want to go straight to trial with the cop (who didnt see any of this happen)

And so here I am. I have a defense prepared but I wouldnt be surprised if the judge goes well end of the day you shouldnt have hit the kid pay up

Shitty feeling too because no matter how much positive reinforcement I get from people, end of the day its just me in that courtroom more or less.

Assuming I dont do anything exceptional in the courtroom I think this will go a lot better than I keep imagining though

The cop thing should be thrown out because he will either not show up or wont be a reliable witness.

Thanks chief. And yeah, I did some research and even scientifically I would have not been able to stop in time with the distance Id need to brake. I plan on presenting this in court.

And yeah I hope the cop no-shows because even he realizes how ridiculous it would be to call him in. I just think the prosecutor sees a golden goose and doesnt want to let it go lol

I do know this though, if she tries to drag this out one more time Im moving to dismiss this. Id explain to the judge that this is pushing my right to a speedy trial and bringing someone else in wouldnt change much.

Good luck dude, this almost happened to my mom a few years back. We were one block away from our apartment and we're on a narrow street with vehicles parked on both sides of the road. Some chubby kid comes the fuck out of no where before his mom pulled him back.

Okay I'm back.

The judge denied my motion to dismiss, but also got on the prosecutor for not subpoenaing the kid properly lol

Bad news: there will be a round 4 next month.

Good news: if the kid no shows again it's an automatic dismissal of both charges.
