Here's what i've watched so far

Watched samurai champloo (loved)
cowboy bebop (couldnt get past epi 6)
psychopass (loved)
brother alchemist (couldnt get past epi 4)
hunter x hunter (loved)
yu yu hakusho (fun, not great but def really enjoyed)
parasyte (solid 8/10)
kill la kill (i really enjoyed this, but the sexual stuff was a bit much. 9/10 for me)

I don't like male fantasy anime (harem stuff, or a bunch of girls wanting the MC)

im ok with another shonen, but would prefer some sci fi now? or honestly if you just have a show you recommend based off these i'll give it a try

i have access to hulu and netflix, but if something is not on there i'd try to get access

Madoka Magica, Steins;Gate, and Nichijou

If you're okay with shonen series, Dr. Stone, Fire Force, and Demon Slayer are the main new shows you should be watching. Demon Slayer is my favorite of those 3, followed by Dr. Stone.

One-Punch Man is basically mandatory viewing for anyone who's ever watched a shonen ever.

Not "actual" anime, but I'm also gonna recommend Castlevania and Seis Manos.

Seconding steins gate

If you're looking to try out Mecha, gundam iron blooded orphans is a good entry to try out

Ghost in the shell, the original movie or else the stand along complex and second gig anime

Akira IS probably the most iconic sci fi anime of all time

Not necessarily shonen but I'd also suggest the girl who leapt through time, it's a pretty good anime film and thoroughly wraps up loose ends and has no plot holes I'm aware of

All the old classics: Ninja Scroll, Vamp Hunter D, Golgo 13, Record of Lodoss War. Theres a lot.

A great new one on Netflix is high score girl. Its charming.

Theres also Shin Chan, one of my favorites but a lot of people I know cant stand it.

Thirding Steins;Gate for awesome sci-fi.
Dennou Coil is another pretty good sci-fi.
If you like Kill la Kill, you might like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
