It was great as a self contained movie about Pinkman's attempt to flight to freedom, but as an expansion of the world from the tv show it was lacking.

Yeah pretty good. Crucially Brock is going to get an explanation to what happened and not spend his whole life not knowing why his mom got killed by a stranger at the door.

Have the same feeling I had when the show ended. Happy because it was very good but sad because it's over

It's like the Deadwood movie (though El Camino is better), it's good, but not really needed. I'm still glad it happened though.

I liked it. It's basically like "Would you like to see a 2.5 episode arc that tells you what happens with Jesse after he drives out of there?"

Who wouldn't say yes?

And for that premise it's very satisfactory

Simply seeing Jesse get his fresh start should bring a greater sense of closure to many fans. I never thought the original show ended poorly, but I did think it ended too abruptly for Jesse considering he was the co-lead and had a horribly tortured final few episodes. I don't think the point was ever to push a long-concluded series in new directions, but to give the co-lead his own "Felina".

Overall, I liked it. The pacing and tension felt like classic BB, though the climactic shootout with the antagonists felt contrived and kind of ridiculous. Jesse's escape was already tense enough; that was overkill.

All in all, I was disappointed and I think they really set false expectations with the original trailer which wasn't even in the movie. Like, they made it seem (at least to me) that there would be some crazy manhunt.

That's a fair point; I was also disappointed with the bait and switch trailer. I was waiting for Skinny Pete's scene with the police the entire time - it looked awesome in the trailer!

Everyone looked a little weird. Todd was the worst, but Aaron Paul was definitely heavier too. Then Walt with his terrible bald cap lmao.

But I'm saying there was no journey with Jesse's character. In every good story, there's an underlying theme, usually in the form of finding the character's need. I'm not talking about his run from the law or his search for a new start, it's something internal that hinders them from achieving what they want. It's usually a truth that they need to realize in order to grow as a person. Are we discussing spoilers here? If not, here are the spoilers. I wasn't sure if it was going to be about Jesse's PTSD or atoning for what he's done in the past, because that whole western duel kind of shit on both of those ideas. How could Jesse be seeking a new start when he killed two people that didn't really need to be killed (he could have gotten that money any other way). He kind of relapsed in this story and possibly made things worse for himself, but we'll never know that.

It was the pizza he had with Jessie

i agree with the poster that said an internal struggle with Jessie would
have been better. I dont know, Jessie taking on these weird welders was just kinda dumb.

That's my one main complaint with the movie. The Wild West shootout was just bizarre. Felt out of place with the rest of the movie.

They made a point that the guy had just done cocaine IIRC, it wa a little weird, I think they thought "dang we need a final conflict for the ending" it at least goes to show that Jesse isn't stupid anymore

And this happened probably in the middle of his inprisonment so like todd could have chunked up a bit in the middle then lost the weight again.

Though I do think Vince is a little too lazy when it comes to characters putting in effort to look how they should in the show.

No way dude, that showdown was basically Vince Gilligan 100% cementing the Breaking-Bad-iverse as a modern Western. It was a cool new spin on a beloved drama piece forgotten to time.
