The tl;dr is that she's been a lifelong vegan. Her friends tricked her into eating chicken nuggets when she was drunk and then posted pictures on Snapchat laughing about it. She took the video to the police and now they're "facing charges" for food tampering.

The dumbest part is the number of people in the comments saying she's not the asshole and saying this is a reasonable thing to do. A few people have some sense in their head and they're being hit with rebuttals of, "WELL WHAT IF SOMEONE KILLED YOUR PET AND TRICKED YOU INTO EATING IT?!"

I think she's justified in taking legal action because what her "friends" did is unjustifiable and possibly criminal, and they deserve the consequences.

But another issue is just getting drunk. We all know the world is a messed up place, yet some still choose to put themselves into vulnerable positions that open them up to this, or worse. So while criminals should be punished, people who live their lives as if the world is all sunshine and rainbows, and they can be absent from consciousness around a bunch of dubious people, are morons.

is there a law against food tampering? (apparently, yes, and she has sufficient evidence for the courts)

is the punishment for this crime something that is hugely upsetting but not hugely impactful to someone's life (almost certainly)

are these people dead to her anyway? (definitely)

is there another way she could defend herself that isn't essentially letting bullies off without consequences? (not really: when you are mocking someone on social media post-prank you're making clear that they're dead to you also)

using the legitimate authorities to punish a crime that probably imposes a fine but forces a court trip seems fine to me

i think the appropriate comparison is more something like ender's game: a bully is constantly threatening/harassing/beating on you, so when the opportunity presents itself, you beat them far worse, as a lesson that they should never mess with you or anyone else again. i don't think too many people read that part of ender's game and thought "wow ender is a monster I hate him"
