Guys! We have to eat the babies!

Save the world! Eat the children!

But in all honesty, were probably fine...

The jersey shore was under flood warning today because of high tide. No storms, a beautiful day. I don't think everything is fine.

Population wise, were fine. I was talking about the original question. Humans will die out eventually, anyway. And the Earth will continue to do Earth things. And everything will be fine...

Sure but humans should exist, just not in our current incarnation, well most of us at least.

And when there are 300,000,000,000 people where will we all live?

I hear Texas is a pretty big place

Not as big as some Canadian provinces. But were currently full, so I guess that doesnt matter.

What I was getting at. Only way to save land for food is to build up and then were all living in condos and suffering from all the negatives of that.

..what? That makes zero sense. Your argument boils down to, "I know they exist because I have faith!"

Are you seriously arguing that because you've never met someone that currently lives in, let's say, Ethiopia, that you don't know other people exist in Ethiopia? And on top of that, there's no reason to care or acknowledge or place value in their existence?

While there are people in Ethiopia, you know nothing about them as individuals, far less than you even would a complete stranger because at least with a stranger you'd know what they look like. Hell, given you know so little, it's entirely possible that -- for all you know -- there is no Ethiopia at all and the entire country's existence could be a media invention. Compare that to a stranger where you definitely know they exist because they're right there.

Not at all. We could build a new life for everyone... under the sea.

I'm suddenly reminded of this:
No, listen to me, said Zarniwoop, people come to you do they? In ships

I think so, said the man. He handed the bottle to Trillian.

And they ask you, said Zarniwoop, to take decisions for them? About peoples lives, about worlds, about economies, about wars, about everything going on out there in the Universe? Out there? said the man, out where?

Out there! said Zarniwoop pointing at the door.

How can you tell theres anything out there, said the man politely, the doors closed.

The rain continued to pound the roof. Inside the shack it was warm.

But you know theres a whole Universe out there! cried Zarniwoop. You cant dodge your responsibilities by saying they dont exist!

The ruler of the Universe thought for a long while whilst Zarniwoop quivered with anger.

Youre very sure of your facts, he said at last, I couldnt trust the thinking of a man who takes the Universe if there is one for granted.

Zarniwoop still quivered, but was silent.

I only decide about my Universe, continued the man quietly. My Universe is my eyes and my ears. Anything else is hearsay.

But dont you believe in anything?

The man shrugged and picked up his cat.

I dont understand what you mean, he said.

You dont understand that what you decide in this shack of yours affects the lives and fates of millions of people? This is all monstrously wrong!

I dont know. Ive never met all these people you speak of. And neither, I suspect, have you. They only exist in words we hear. It is folly to say you know what is happening to other people. Only they know, if they exist. They have their own Universes of their own eyes and ears.

That's his gimmick. When he's on the losing end of a discussion, he waits until the topic settles down then posts a rebuttal in the hopes that people have moved on from the discussion and won't see his response or care to reply. He's still wrong, but this way he gets the last word and it feels like a win to him and his ego.

His whole "they are only a stranger if you can see them" logic is really fucking hilarious though.

On top of the "Ethiopia might be fake news" thing, how mental is he?

Isn't Shapiro A Donald Trump Fanboy?

If he is does that make the opinion he presented automatically invalid? If so, how do you expect to have an honest debate if the oppositions arguments are automatically ignored?

The people starving now are starving not because there isn't enough food in the world for them, but because the food that is in the world isn't reaching them. With better organization, there's no reason the world couldn't support significantly more people, especially once we start developing vertical farming technologies (e.g. hydroponics, aeroponics) and viable lab meat.

Hypothetically, the entire population of the world could fit into Texas, with a population density about 5-10% higher than that of Manhattan (if I'm remembering the math I did a while ago correctly). Having such a high population density over such a large area creates some logistical challenges that you don't see when it's a much smaller area, of course, meaning living in such a megalopolis would be very different from living in Manhattan, but it wouldn't be impossible.

Reminds me of Mega City One.
