I don't care enough about some YouTube e-celeb that I don't find particularly funny to waste the time to watch a video about a game that I personally put the time to get the plat and 100% and already heavily enjoyed. Like I already got my experience and fully decided I love the game.

It doesn't hit everyone's buttons sure and there are a few points I can critique about the game myself even but overall it's a game made entirely for the type of fan of the series I am and I think it delivered on that as someone who's followed the series extensively since the beginning.

Yeah what dunkey fails to understand is that many of the flaws he points out is why people like the series. He's kind of missing what the game's goals are to be more objective about it. The game does have flaws to criticize but he actually misses a bunch by doing this and not going any deeper. So he mostly isn't wrong, but...he's wrong.

the worlds were great and a good percentage of the loose ends were wrapped up (while creating new ones for future games). the game was overall way too easy and the story was sometimes awkwardly told. I was more than satisfied.

That's just not true. I loved the series a lot and this game just didn't give you anything you wanted. If you look at it from a 3 month hindsight then there's some pretty cool events, but the playing the actual game itself was so dry and unmagical. The opposite of what KH is. It's cool if people found a way to enjoy it, but it's definitely despite the flaws, not because of it. Play KH1 and 2 again and remember what it's missing.

I did replay KH1 and 2 in the lead up to 3. I agree that they are a lot better made. But I still found plenty enjoyable about what 3 was doing. Despite its flaws, yeah, but I'm talking from the standpoint of this review I don't think the game's specific flaws are adequately discussed.

I was referring more to the standard criticisms of the game that are true for most of the series (convoluted plot, goofy dialogue, bloated cast, overly flashy but ultimately simple combat). It's totally fine to dislike those but I don't think it says much at this level of detail. Even making a point of comparison to the other games is more than a surface-level criticism.

The gameplay is amazing, but sadly the story was gutted beyond belief. It has horrible pacing, no real sense of direction, lots of unsatisfying character stories/events, etc. I still like it despite its many many flaws, but man this couldve been so much better. The fucking spinoffs have better story direction than this thing :/

Personally I was underwhelmed by the combat and bosses but I'm probably spoiled by KH2FM being so damn good.

Hopefully KH3FM will exist in a few years so I can eventually love it too

I wonder if I'll ever actually play this game. I lost whatever remaining interest hadn't been killed off by BBS and DDD when it came out that the FF characters weren't involved.

KH3 might have perfectly captured what a lot of people loved about the series. Or maybe it didn't, I've heard both opinions. But either way, I know it certainly didn't capture what I used to love about it.

The biggest surprise about KH3 is that it actually made me care about Sora.

It has a lot of issues, no doubt, but I still enjoyed it a lot.

I think if KH3 had Org battles strewn throughout the worlds, as well as a couple more small worlds (a Radiant Garden the size of Twilight Town, for example, and maybe some other old worlds) then it would've locked in what I wanted.

I mean, the two best worlds in the game were 'revisits' to old worlds. For a 'final' entry, it would've been nice to build up a little more pathos going into the final world, and there are already connections with previously visited worlds that I think get played on very well.

And more difficulty come on

They didnt need to leave anything behind. What they needed to do was spend KH3 resolving everything they left hanging in a way that was actually paced well and delivered through the whole game instead of cramming all of it in the last 5% of the game and making all the Disney/Pixar worlds feel like pointless filler

Yeah this is definitely one of my biggest issues with KH3. Rather than spend the conclusion of the Xehanort Saga resolving its own plot threads, it shoves them to the back in favor of spending most of the game teasing the next game with the box and all the stuff about the ancient keyblade war and Girl X or whatever who is suddenly Lea and Isa's primary motivator despite having never mentioned her before

I do wish 3 actually embraced the crazy plot more rather than almost hiding it at the end. I actually thought the scenes with like, Woody standing up to young xehanort were fun.

It has, but the previous games also had way less plot threads going on while also having way more stuff in the worlds that was related to the plot. You spend all of KH1 trying to reunite with Soras lost friends while also learning about the KH universe. In 2 you also search for his friends, but tons of new enemies are introduced (Org 13) who constantly get in your face.

In KH3 all the meat is left at the very end and it has like 5 or more games worth of hanging plot lines to tackle, but pushes all of it into the very end so even when stuff does finally get resolved it doesnt have the emotional impact it should because the game has terrible story pacing. All of the plot it needed to cover from the previous games was enough meat to pack the entire KH3 story with it instead of the last 510%. KH3 you basically spend the whole game pushed away from every plot thread and character that matters because Sora isnt ready and yet those more experienced than him spend the entire game looking like mega fodder jobbers :/

Yall are acting like these problems you have with KH3 weren't in KH2 lol and even more so imo. Disney worlds were absolutely pointless in KH2 because of fuckin Maleficent and Pete, KH3 actually has the Disney characters interacting with relevant villains this time around

I dunno, I've never been into KH and i also havent played it so I cant judge here. I'm glad anyone who likes the series finally got the game.

The thing that does puzzle me sometimes is when fans talk about how the story is one of the best parts when everyone also says it's a clusterfuck. Then many fans of these games go on to mock Kojima games saying his stories are a mess.
