the version i heard is that he and God were mad at her because she refused to be his inferior. and she wanted to be on top during sex. Eve was the "proper" woman. docile and tends to a man. Lilith was fiery and independent

He didn't. God disliked her assertiveness and kicked her out and then created Eve from Adam's rib because that made her subservient to Adam.

Lilith is not part of any accepted Christian myth that I'm aware of. She's exclusively Jewish talmudic legend.

She's some kind of half snake half woman demon and I used to think that this was a metaphors for something but I spoke to a bunch of guys and it turns out a lot of them had ex wives that were half snake demons.

My English teacher told me it was because God hadn't finished making Lillith when Adam saw her, and he didn't really find her appealing as a result

I think Lilith was in the original legend. the whole point is to show her and then banish her and introduce Eve and show how she is "a better woman". it's a lesson that a patriarchal bronze age society would craft.

she's not non canon or fan fic. she's just part of an older now almost forgotten tradition.

Lilith was demon from other faiths, that got build in to the Adam and Eve story later on, and then even later on she was changed from demon spawn that killed mothers and babies to some kind of feminist icon. Take that however you want it.

even if that's true, the "other faith" may have been the original hebrew religion. the hebrews were not always monotheistic. there is clues in the hebrew texts, in the bible and in archeological remains that tell us their ancestors believed in multiple gods

the king of the gods in their ancient religion might have been named "El". there is records of a deity named El. and maybe Israel means "land of El"

El is either the god of the bible, changed to an only god, or he might be the father of the god of the bible.

In Jewish mythology (because Lilith is not a figure in Christianity/Christian mythology) Lilith was conceived as a fix for a contradiction early in Genesis. In the passage describing the creation of mankind, the verse states (paraphrased) "man and woman, He created them."

But a couple chapters later we have then the description of Eve's creation of Eve from Adam's rib, and the naming of Eve as 'woman, because she came from man.'

So did woman exist before God created Eve, supposedly the first woman? Contradiction.

So Jewish mythology attempts to reconcile this with the apocryphal story of Lilith, Adam's first wife who was exiled from the Garden of Eden. Some accuse her of being the mother of a variety of demons, but that's a whole other can of worms, somewhat inspired by the surrounding cultures.

Now it's very important to know that none of this mythology exists in a vacuum. In nearby nations' mythologies there are other figures like Lilith, some of whom even have similar names, who pop up all over the Proto-Semitic pantheons. Comparative religious studies do a lot more digging here, but TLDR: she's not the first, nor is she particularly unique. It's reasonable to assume much of what we associate with Lilith in Jewish mythology developed parallel to cultural and religious development across Mesopotamia.

The Lilith account is from The Aphabet of Sirach

He also created a woman, from the earth, as He had created Adam himself, and called her Lilith. Adam and Lilith immediately began to fight. She said, 'I will not lie below,' and he said, 'I will not lie beneath you, but only on top. For you are fit only to be in the bottom position, while I am to be the superior one.' Lilith responded, 'We are equal to each other inasmuch as we were both created from the earth.' But they would not listen to one another. When Lilith saw this, she pronounced the Ineffable Name and flew away into the air. Adam stood in prayer before his Creator: 'Sovereign of the universe!' he said, 'the woman you gave me has run away.' At once, the Holy One, blessed be He, sent these three angels to bring her back.

Yeah. His loss though. Or I guess all our losses if the myth is true, since Eve's and complaisant Adam are one that sent humans into sin.
