The story about that is actually kind of funny. IIRC Bill Murray always wanted to work with the Coen's so when he saw that a Coen was directing Garfield he didn't think twice about it and signed the contract.

Only to mistakenly realize later that it was a completely different Coen and now he was contractually obligated to do the movie.

Sam Neil said before that he "hates dinosaurs" and that the last anyone had seen of Alan Grant was that his hat was found floating in a river. I thought getting him back for a Jurassic Park/World movie was as likely as getting Bill Murray for a Ghostbusters movie. It's nice how money, temporal distance, and money heal nearly all wounds.

This is also gonna force Jurassic World to put up or shut up on whether Lost World and JP3 are canon. Did Dr. Satler agree to have kids with Dr. Grant? Or did she marry that other schmuck and have a kid by him?

Goldblum probably thinks this is the third Jurassic Park movie

then you missed how it ended, and you don't realize how 6 is gonna be. watch that short video I linked. it was made by the studio that makes the movies and has the same production values. looks like a movie. its like 8 minutes long. set after World 2 before World 3. and is about the world that was set up at the end of World 2.

Dinos escaped into the wild world at the end of JW2 and common people have to live along side them

It's probably gonna be short and pointless. I mean, Goldblum was in Fallen Kingdom and his entire 5 second scene is shown in the trailer.

Yeah. She and Grant agree to have kids in the first film, but then she marries some other guy and has a kid by him instead. Or so the third film states. With the two of them back, they're no longer gonna be able to play the fence as to whether or not the Jurassic Park sequels are canon.

Unless there's no interaction between them. His cameo, her cameo.

The hat remark was from a 2016 interview. "The call hasn't come. And no one can find Grant. Someone found his hat. His hat was floating on the Hudson River, but that was the last ever heard of him."

It's likely because of Jurassic Park 3 that he didn't want to return to the series. That, or he disliked his typecasting as Dr. Grahnt.

I don't have the complete quote, but the same interview (ShortList) had him stating that Grant had retired from paleontology and was "sick to death" of dinosaurs. That part I read as him being annoyed with Jurassic Park more or less defining his career.

I dunno it wouldn't surprise me if that is a plot point in the next movie.

It's hard to tell with interviews sometimes. Sarcasm and banter aren't usually obvious.

This was before Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, so I doubt if it was meant as a plot point for the upcoming film. I'm sure he was charming in the interview, but I took that as him being annoyed with his typecasting.

Funny, my post that had the death of a certain Star Wars character in it was deleted for being a spoiler. Even though the film has been out for almost 2 years and even after the fuss the film made. No way nobody has heard of it by now.

This trend of original characters returning in the latest film needs to die. It ruined the new Star Wars films since the plot revolved around them. I rather have the film makers work on a clean slate than offer a two minute blast of nostalgia.
