Don't bite my head off. I'm just wondering what you guys think an appropriate reaction to such a big deception should be?

And no, I'm not asserting anything. This is a hypothetical. If you want something more to your liking replace a mainstream religion you're hypothetically apart of with climate change in the hypothetical.

In other words, a big holy fucking shit lie everyone was told. Whatever it was. Like the KONY 2012 thing. Only a million times larger.

What would you do and what do you think should happen?

"What do you wanna hear? Want me to say I'd go crazy and start flinging apeshit everywhere? Huh, is that what you want?"

Well, yeah, but just give me an honest answer.

Hard to have been made up considering Cali is constantly in a state of draught and Houston is constantly being flooded more so than normal. If it's not global warming, then what would it be?

I doubt it's a deception from 'big science', but if the data did eventually come back that what we think is climate change was a one-off occurence 'cuz of, idk, the age of the sun or something...

...then good. we don't have to worry about man made extinction from climate change..... ...... just man made extinction from pretty much every other endeavor

This.

I'd be relieved that we aren't actually causing climate change, but I still think we need to not be so wasteful with things.

That isn't actually doing anything though.

Be incredibly surprised that such an elaborate hoax and massive data manipulation by so many countries and institutions could be coordinated for so long with no real benefits for the people in power who are the only ones who could possibly orchestrate such a thing.

Unsurprisingly, this triggered/will trigger some people here.

Anyway, I'd feel the same way I do now. Annoyed that the establishment elite keep telling us it's our fault and telling us not to reproduce and other bullshit like that knowing goddamn well that it's the giant corporations lining their pockets that are to blame

Meh, politics as usual, lots of pork in the big deal about 0.4 degrees Fahrenheit in a century. Can nobody actually read anymore? I'm more concerned about the next Maunder Minimum mini-Ice-Age but that's 10-15 years away, still.

I would be relieved, but nuclear is still the most sustainable option. Both sides like to neglect nuclear. The waste from nuclear is bad, and it scares people more than wind/solar, but there's so little of it that it doesn't matter.

Try to find out what's causing the observed effects currently attributed to climate change (mass die-offs, extreme weather, rising water levels, changing weather patterns, etc.).

"Climate change" is not the dangerous part; it's all the things that climate change causes. Even if all the scientists were lying to us about the cause (spoiler alert: they're not), the effect is still happening. Climate change being a lie would actually put us in a substantially worse position, because it means that the planet is still experiencing significant adverse effects, only now we have no idea why or how to solve it.

I would also obviously be really mad that the Conservatives would be right.

Like, really? I listen to the scientists, and they get to be right after listening to the oil shills? That's like getting hit by lightning by random chance while the guy running around with a metal rod in a thunderstorm tells me he told me so.

I mean, I don't really know what to say to climate deniers on a more practical level. I once befriended an elderly gentleman who worked for the Atomic Energy Commission. He had a lot of old papers and research books, but in particular he had a collection of studies ranging from the 1890's to the 1950's concerning emissions affecting the climate (the terminology varied). No joke; I've held the papers in my hands and read them... could barely get through some parts because I only have a high school understanding of chemistry but there you go. While their time-frames are off, the predictions made in those papers are remarkably accurate.

When most people call climate change a hoax... I don't think they realize just how far back we've known about it happening. Trump certainly doesn't if he thinks it's some sort of scam from China, lol.

You really have to ask who the guy at the podium is and what they represent, as depicted in the picture.

Its a pure intention in context-- now ask how the motive is exploited for profit.

These people pushing for change are not our friends.

Set all political biases aside when you ask these questions, and the puppeteer is revealed.

As opposed to the people pushing for things to stay the same, like Exxon Mobile. They're blocking investment in modern infrastructure purely out of the goodness of their hearts.
