As I said before I started this contest, that I plan to do these more sparingly, as these do take almost 2 months to do with a lot of attention. However, you won't have to wait too long, as there are still several topics that I would love to do. And with Waffle putting these off indefinitely, and with Popcorns unfortunate health issues, with their permission of course, I could take over some of their Save That ideas. Like, Musicians, Anime Characters, Ghosts, Marvel/DC, and Video Game Characters (the latter which I've already gotten permission on).

November 1st, will be the day I put the Topic Poll up, and I'll tag everyone who posts in this thread when I do, so no one misses out.

I'm glad that a few of my favorite games (Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Girls' Frontline, and obviously Tales of Symphonia) had great showings this time, with most of them going much farther than I expected. Colette making the finals was a treat even though she didn't win, and (even though I didn't really support him much on the way) Lloyd winning is a good ending. As for the next contest...

Out of the new ideas I remember being mentioned, I think Robots/Androids and Thieves/Pirates were the two that most appealed to me, and out of the possible revivals, Anime Characters 3 would be the only one that I'd be really into. Anything else, I'd either skip or just not really put much into.

Of the top 10, I only know who 4 of them are, and Vyse only by name/look as I haven't played his game.

My last pick, Mikleo, made it surprisingly far. Most of my picks didn't make it much past the 1 vote round, as expected.... At least Alphinaud made it to top 50, barely.

Of course I'd have nominated Lloyd myself if somebody hadn't already. He's my favorite Tales character and one of my favs overall. And Colette's really great too. Great top 2!

I'm going to be honest, the majority of my noms are from games I've never played, the characters just looked cool to me, and I though at least some of them would get support. But with characters like Zavied, I actually become legit fans of, and I would like to check out Tales of Zestiria someday.

A bunch of the characters that did well are from series I've either never played or only have minimal experience with. Of the top 20, I really only knew about half a dozen of them, which is why I stopped voting once Kain was gone.

Still, I was proud to help Quistis do really well. Kinda surprised she made it so far, especially as a lot of people dislike FF8. One of these days, I'd like to see Triss win too.

Yeah, I liked all of them too. I don't think it's the best game in the series or anything, but there were a lot of things I liked about it. And I think 8's soundtrack is some of Uematsu's best work.

I'm glad Abby did much better than the first RPG character Save that where she got wiped out by the greatest natural disaster known to man. A dead of night round. X_X

The final round was lame in my opinion, two characters from the same game. At least CE picks weirder stuff than the site's character battles, where it's always Link, Cloud, Mario,etc.

IIRC the only other time that's happened in these contests was King (who also happened to be the defending champion) and Yoshimitsu, both from the Tekken franchise, meeting in the final of Save That Fighting Game Character 2. So it's pretty rare to have that happen.

Yeah, it's nice seeing some random-ass oddball/meme character go really far due to having a few passionate fans working hard to save them each round. Watching Trogdor The Burninator of all possible characters win Save That Dino/Dragon was surreal, but I think that's the only oddball/meme character to actually win a contest outright.

Right, I'm just going to say my short thing and be done with it. Personally, I didn't like that the final was with two characters from the same series a bit. I know that it had to be done because they were the top two but to anyone that didn't play the game they came from (like me) it's hard to vote for either character when you have no idea who they are. But anyway, it is how it is so I'm not going to complain about this anymore.

But I guess what led to that happening this time was what Trop said, lack of votes from passersby on a somewhat common basis was mostly what lead to that imo. There just wasn't a whole lot of people that just came in for any given round but never showed up again. That meant that the favorites of the voters who did stay around round over round were even more greatly...I guess the best way to put it is favored than perhaps normally. And that so happened to help Colette and Lloyd as they seemed to be a lot of people's second favorite that they went to vote for when their favorite got knocked out, and the outside votes that might have normally skewed towards other things like FF characters weren't around to push back.

So in short, this one (I don't have too much experience with these so I can't say if these contests are really like this or not) just more or less relied on the constant voters and their likes to move things along. I mean that's normally what happens but perhaps not to this degree. As to if why the lack of passerby votes happened are due to others are just wearing off of it for a while or if it's just a side effect of GameFAQs not having has many people now as compared to 10 years ago or some other reason, I just have no idea so I'm not going to go there.

^You're not wrong that it was a somewhat smaller group of people voting for things than usual.

While I personally didn't vote in the final round either (because I too haven't played that game), I'm fine with that.

There have been much bigger problems in some of the previous contests. There have been at least 2 or 3 that never finished-- the movies one in particular I remember having such a small group of voters that by the time it was to the top 20 or so & things needed 3 votes that it collapsed.

The Final Fantasy one from a few years ago was the worst in my opinion though. Massive vote trading blocks for dozens of rounds on end was so fucking lame. That was also the one that got the 'no rallying' rule put in.
