I still remember En Passant because my dad would say it loudly and in a dumb french accent every time he would use the move.

There's been a chess streamer whose videos are showing up in my recommended who used en passant in a video I remember watching... but I still don't remember what it means. Castling I remember from when I first learned the game.

I was surprised to learn about it when I was like 7 or so. I had been playing chess for years but nobody had ever introduced the move to me until I finally got my own chessboard and it was listed right there in the rule book.

Yeah, those rules were in the rule book that came with the first chess set I ever had, one of those cheap plastic sets that comes in a flimsy cardboard box.

The last rules I learned were the three-fold repetition and fifty-move rule. Neither were mentioned in that rule book. The only drawing situations it mentioned were stalemates and players agreeing to a draw. The ability to claim a draw under certain situations wasn't specified. So I never learned them until I played the Chessmaster PC game.

Thanks I will look into that. I always played Go, and want to get into Chess more. So I am more into the basics now. I know I will regret saying this... But so far Chess is WORLDS easier than Go.

Me too. I feel like castling is very well known. People probably know en passant, but not the name specifically. Maybe less known is that you can castle either side (king or queen).

My favorite chess moves are pinning and forking. A good pin or fork is so awesome.

I know Castling, and I've heard of En Passant, though I don't remember what it is at the moment.

I don't really play chess, though. I'm aware of how the pieces move, and I love the musical, but that's about it.

Isnt the Passant one where the Pawn under a specific circumstance move diagonal by one spot?

Castling i I know is when you change the positions of a Bishop and your King. I think it has to be before you move the Bishop though and in the same row or whatever.

Really? I was on chess team in middle school and we were all taught en passant. In actual play, though, you could easily play many games and never see it since it has to happen in a specific circumstance and has to be capitalized on immediately or its not applicable.
