This is true. You see, some people may have thought it meant lots of love. But that is wrong...

How is having the knowledge that many industries want that land to mine the resources, which has been public knowledge, And those leaders of industry have their hands in the pockets of the people who control the media who stopped covering it. How does knowing that make me clueless? Are you going to provide information on your statement or just retort with grade school remarks?

No, people have to move on to something new for their manufactured outrage.

to me it felt less like outrage and more like an alarmed response

and honestly if you find out that much of the Amazon has been burned away in such a short time and you arent at least a little alarmed then what is wrong with you

Just because the corporate controlled US media has stopped covering it doesn't mean the outrage has stopped. It just proves that greedy profit at the expense of our well being is still happening.

i wasn't alarmed because this happens every year, and this year wasn't even as bad as previous years

the rainforest doesn't even do anything, it makes enough oxygen to pretty much only support the life in the forest

"big business" doesn't have anything to do with it, is the first thing.

it's not about deforestation for the wood, it's about farmers wanting more land for their sheep. and oops, there's a lil fire now.

Well, most of our oxygen comes from the ocean. Nearly all of it, IIRC. The Amazon producing 20% is apparently a misunderstanding, I guess...

This is 2019. Any and all outrage lasts about 4-5 days max before the internet moves. Short attention span combined with tons of digital noise. There's simply too much news now. And people dont actually care about the shit they pretend to care about. Being outraged is trendy

it's the truth though.

the entire rainforest could go away, and nothing would happen, at all, to the oxygen levels in the world.

nothing.

worrying about the oxygen it produces is pointless, because it only produces enough to sustain itself. worrying about the ecosystem and animals and stuff? yeah that's worth worrying over, but

The downside of developing a culture of outrage which is constantly on the hunt for something new to be angry about and have hategasms over is the fact that most backlash, outrage, and scandal lasts for all of about 20 minutes before everyone moves on to the next hot thing to be pissed about.

If I were feeling particularly clever, I'd probably try to come up with some sort of pun combining lynch mobs and flash mobs to really hammer it home. But I'm lazy, so just pretend I did that.

The real problem is that most politicians and businesses are becoming aware of the fleeting nature of outrage in the modern era, so they're all fully clued in to the fact that if they can weather the initial storm and generally ignore the controversy it'll completely blow over in a week or two even if they don't do anything to actually change things. As a culture, we're effectively desensitizing ourselves to protests and social backlash and completely weakening their power as a tool of positive change.

Yep and whenever something big like epstein happens, they just create a bunch of noise on the internet until its successfully drowned out and forgotten about
