It's been a nightmare for Marvel fans after the Sony and Disney deal broke down and Spiderman was fully controlled by Sony again and will no longer be part of the MCU...

But now the rumours suggest an even darker picture as it appears APPLE may want to buy SONY PICTURES!!

If Sony is bought by another company, the rights to Spidey will revert back to Marvel and Disney is in no hurry to pay through the nose to use Peter Parker again if Sony is bought out and they get him back with no charge..

The Apple buyout is far from confirmed as they may want to purchase Lionsgate, A24 or CBS Viacom and it isn't confirmed if they want to buy just Sony Pictures or ALL of Sony which includes their Music Division and Playstation...

Apple is slowly getting into the entertainment space and buying up studios is the way to go

Sony has been in this situation before where investor Dan Loeb begged the company to sell its movie division after falling profits but that all changed after a turnaround at the top and the movie division is making money again.

As of right now Sony is still moving forward with making another Spiderman with Tom Holland as Disney holds its breath of getting him back over this news.

Everybody swallowing entire companies to get access to their catalogs, so they can start their streaming services. Not as bad when the media conglomerates do it because there's only a handful, but now Apple, Amazon, Google, and Walmart want a piece of that pie as well.

if you look at the sum total of their assets:

apple - $365 billion
sony - $194 billion
disney - $98 billion

this doesnt mean anything overall but i think it gives a quick idea of just how massive apple is. they have a TON of cash, a lot of money coming in, and generally it's just a very well-managed company.

Disney = 250 billion
Sony = 80 billion

Microsoft = 1 trillion
Amazon = 900 billion
Google = 850 billion

edit: Apple also has over 200 billion just in cash right now.

Coincidentally, Disney's CEO Bob Iger just left Apple's Board of Directors last week. He definitely left because Apple is getting into streaming against Disney.

Something big must be brewing.

Although my initial reaction is one of complete disagreement, I still maintain that whatever it takes to kill gaming so that it can be reborn is worth the pain in the short term.

Has this been confirmed by Sony/Disney anywhere? Like would there be a difference if all of Sony is bought or if they spun-off and sold Sony Pictures?

Microsoft is currently number 1 in the US in market cap (~1.06T) since their stock went up a lot this year compared to Apple/Amazon/Google (your article is from May 2018). Apple has gotten back close (~983.96B) to the top spot in the last month or so since their stock has recovered some losses. Apple was worth the most for several years before Microsoft passed them.
