Your answer should always be I require that you make me an offer. Whoever goes first loses.

I did ask for the range first and it was lower than what I was hoping.

I hate when they ask that on applications. Like, I really don't give a shit. Pay me whatever you want, I just want a real job. Finding an entry level job sucks.

I like the opposite.'on call is not compensated'
so you expect me to be on call, were I can be called at 3am to help solve a problem.
'yes'
I'm sorry but the fact that this job has on call and terrible pay makes me wanna get drunk daily after work so I'm afraid that I can't do on call so I don't intend to continue interviewing.
'we'll be in touch'
*gets offer with contract including detailing on call and is clearly stating I need to be fit for work including not consuming alcohol*

Employers gonna dumb

Yeah it took me several months to find something after college.

If they ask for salary expectations on an application, just put negotiable

No such thing as a "great" interview.

Unless you manage to seduce them. It's really the only exception.

It really is terrible that the system we have requires a company to dump a promising employee because they ask for a living wage. This is why Republicans should never be in charge.

You should take the job, show up drunk on your first day and continue to drink, out in the open in front of them and when they confront you, just say "I didn't want this job anyway. I'm just trolling you. I'll show myself out now..."

Id rather not share that here since CE might call me really greedy lol. But I did ask for a lot higher than the top of their range.

Yeah Im asking for a lot more than a livable wage... Not sure what any political party has to do with anything. Companies have been doing this forever.

Guess I did well enough. Moving to final interview stages. Also in talks with my old company who wants me back. Seems like some of my grievances were shared by other people and now there is a new VP and theyre working hard on addressing all concerns. This new company is really interesting to me though. I seemed to jive really well with the interviewers who would be my potential teammates. They also knew how toxic my current company is and none of them really judged me for wanting to leave after 3 months.

Feelsgood. I hate living with this anxiety with my current job.

My first answer: "That's negotiable."
My second answer if they keep pushing: "Comparing my experience and skillset to salaries for similar roles in this area, my research suggests my market value is..."

Usually they'll try to bargain it down 2-3k, but when actively job searching I tend to interview with multiple companies so they have to compete with the other offer.

Yup I havent slept well in weeks. I had it pretty good at my old job and since I was there a few years there was very little pressure. This company is a lot bigger and super metrics driven. I am not a human being here. I miss feeling like one.

Answering is fine. My rate is just a lot higher than the average. Ive had a few companies admit to being unable to offer what I ask for. I have good reason though, I have a background that is unique and has made me more successful than the average. Not all sales folks in my field have actual engineering degrees.

Thats great. Always better to have options and get some better offers.
