From what I have gathered from researching the same question...

HTML/CSS/Javascript is what you need to know for web dev

Python for general applicability is a good starting point

Theres a lot of market for coders

but you have to be able to prove that you can do it, which means more than just learning code but actually implementing it into projects that you can demonstrate to a potential employer

professional experience in any capacity goes a long way in getting a coding job. Anyone can code, you have to be able to work with your team in a constructive wag

In general, yes. Even the less substantial "coder" jobs are in demand despite how they've been going over seas for over 10 years. But you should really find a more specific career than just "programmer" first and then find out the demand of that field.
