Games played on, say, N64 on my 4K TV... arent pretty lol.
Will one of those converters make it look a little better / cleaner? Or is it really just for those TVs that dont even have composite cable hookups? --- These pretzels are making me thirsty! ... Copied to Clipboard!

I bought one for my SNES for like 10 or 15 bucks when I got my new TV. I'm happy with it. Image isn't too distorted. They're not expensive iirc

The concern I would have with these units is input lag. The old CRT TVs were all instantaneous. But sometimes its a crapshoot on these new flatscreen TVs.

Most have a game mode setting to help with lag.
One of my favorite investments is my CRT to combat your problem. More and more TVs stopped carrying the s video input, and now it almost seems composite is going the same way. Once I noticed that, I went to good will and only regret when I have to move the big ol tube. I pulled out my psone for the first time in years and I was actually taken aback by how clean everything looked still. --- Warning: Sometimes biased https://imgur.com/V0x5fw8 https://imgur.com/IOovUge https://imgur.com/zw7bqPH ... The input delay is the worst part about playing with older systems on new TVs.
And game mode sadly doesn't help much on my TV : / --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

My older systems are either connected to my old CRT TVs (have two of them) and a converter to newer TV. If it doesn't have a lag I connect it to the new TV but the ones with lag I use the old TVs. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

why not just emulate? Some people prefer to the experience of playing on the original hardware, even if its cumbersome or time consuming. I would prefer playing my Megadrive, N64, or GC rather than emulating. --- 3DS Friend Code: 3480-2661-5116 https://www.twitch.tv/ohjoy90 ... Copied to Clipboard!

I know the super smash bros melee competitive scene struggled for years to find a way they could play their gamecube game without messing with the visuals or introducing input delay. I heard that they eventually found something decent that doesn't involve lugging CRTs around. If you're looking to buy a new screen I'd see what they use, it's likely the best solution.

Emulate? 3rd party consoles? It's just not the same. You may get close, but then it all becomes subjective.

Report results if you ever look deep into this cause it could be interesting to learn. Input lag can make such a difference and be taken for granted pretty quickly.
