I mean, IMO John Wick 2 wasn't my favorite movie ever. It was fun, and the action was good, but it felt like John was doing the same handful of moves every fight - especially the arm lock and roll. I enjoyed John Wick 1 more than I liked the sequel.

But the sequel was an excellent movie in its own right, and it was an excellent sequel, period. I just prefer the first one.

With that being said though - John Wick 3 is fucking fantastic. I think it falters a little at the end, loses a bit of steam, but this is a 2 hour long movie that nails its runtime. I remember when John gets to the Continental and teams up with Winston, and there's still 40 minutes left in the fucking movie. I was expecting them to be ramping up for one final balls-out fight that'd go on for about 20 minutes at most - but there was still so much movie left to go! And I wasn't bored shitless like with Batman V Superman, I was excited that there was still so much more movie left to go.

I will say one thing that overstayed its welcome - the bald ninja guy. I get that it's the host of Iron Chef America, that's fun and goofy, but that whole fight in the glass room took way too fucking long imo. The one thing I liked about that scene was John sparing his flunkies, but from there the sequence just continues to get kinda long and drawn out.

I also wasn't too hot on the ending - I didn't wholly dislike it, but it feels like they're setting these movies up too obviously now. Like I'm glad that Lawrence Fishburne is still alive, but John Wick 1 had a decent enough resolution and John Wick 2 ended on an excellent cliffhanger. John Wick 3, in comparison, ends kinda limply - it's not a bad ending, but I don't think it stands on its own. It's completely, unavoidably an unabashedly a sequel hook, and I didn't find it as gripping as John Wick 2's ending. It just lends itself better to making the movies flow better in the future, and I don't think I'm a fan of it. But saying that - it's not a bad ending. I'm looking forward to John Wick 4.

This movie was fucking fantastic from the word "go", and while there were parts that made me think "the only reason no-one's shooting at John Wick is because he's incapacitated and they can only move against him when he's good and ready", it was an excellent watch from start to finish. Somehow, Keanu Reeves and the folks behind these movies have created three independently excellent movies in a hard, blood n' guts action movie franchise. It's been decades since that happened.

I didn't like the third one that much because they went too deep into the lore for me. I preferred how the first two films hinted at it more than showing it outright.

Everything else was top notch though

Halle Berry's fighting was a bit lackluster, but those dogs were the MVP.

I liked the lore stuff, but I thought going to the place where they mint the coins was a bit much.
