So lets do this one more time:

Ganondorf wants the Trifoce.

He cant get it because its behind the door of Time.

Ganondorf waits until Link opens the door. It is the perfect plan. This means he can get the Triforce.

He can do this because Link is asleep.

7 years pass and hes the king of the hyrule.

...but wait!

We go into the door of Time. Its a big empty room! The only things there are a sword and a sleeping child. Where was the Triforce hiding? How do you :1sTZwf

My understanding it's in the sacred realm.

But it gets broken into 3 pieces.

I always assumed when link grabs thr master sword it opened a portal of sorts to the sacred realm and ganondorf had been laying in wait and entered along with link.

The Master Sword opens a portal to the Temple of Light.
You know, that place where Link wakes up... that place where those Sages goes...

The Master Sword is being used as a key. When Link takes it, it opens a portal into the Sacred Realm. While Link is put to sleep because he's too young, Ganondorf walks through the portal and takes the Triforce. Because he's evil, the Triforce splits into three pieces instead of granting his wish.

Other than the Temple of Light where the Sages hang out, you don't actually see the Sacred Realm in OoT. It is mentioned that it's all fucked up now thanks to Ganondorf, implying it's the same thing that happened in LttP.

The reason the Triforce splits isn't because he is evil, it's because he only has power and lacks wisdom and courage. The gods created the Triforce to allow for the possibility of mortals altering reality. Gods can't use it (see: Skyward Sword), and to my knowledge there has never been a suggestion that the Triforce can ever serve as a judge of character. It's not like the Triforce of Power looked at Ganondorf and said "nah bro, you're evil". He was able to do whatever he wanted with the portion of the Triforce he was able to obtain.
