The classic Disney shows DuckTales, Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, and Darkwing Duck have all seemingly been confirmed to be available on the upcoming streaming platform Disney+. This information was revealed in a tweet made directly by the Disney+ Twitter account itself, although it was not stated if these shows would be available at launch.

In addition, it has already been confirmed previously that the first season of the modern reboot of DuckTales will be available on the streaming platform, as well as the entirety of the Simpsons and a plethora of brand new content.

The Disney+ Instagram account has now confirmed that in addition to the four series listed above the Disney classic shows Gargoyles, Goof Troop, and Adventures of the Gummi Bears will also be available. Again it has not been confirmed if these shows would be available on release but it seems likely.

Well I definitely care about DuckTales. I like Chip n Dale, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, and Goof Troop. In fact, the only classic show theyve announced that I dont give one iota about is Gummi Bears.

Yup

I meant what device do you need to get it (looked it up, Chromecast, Roku, XB1, PS4... none of which I own)

You'd think Disney would mail early subscribers a dongle for TVs or something...

.. so, Roku or Chromecast?

I don't know much of anything about roku or chromecast. sorry

I bet they add stuff though. some streaming services launch with certain platforms and then add more later. I can't imagine they would not want to be on like....every possible platform.

My biggest question is whether they are complete series and in order. Disney loves to only release random out of order episodes of their tv series cartoons and it comically enrages me.

Just noticed no Song of the South because theyre cowards. The article makes mention that for some reason Garfield 2 is available but Garfield 1 is absent, so I wonder what else is missing?

No Star Wars Holiday Special either because naturally Disney just does like everyone else and pretends that it doesnt even exist. Thats okay though because its freely available on YouTube for all to see, if you have no self esteem that is.

I watched it online on some random sketchy website since you literally cant find it anywhere through any official channels and I thought it was a fine movie. People just hate it because the black people are subservient to the mean old white woman which was a perfect depiction of how life actually was back then!

I think it's more about how it whitewashed slavery and made it look fun and nice. Like the slaves were just beloved family members who would never leave even if they could because being a slave is the best thing. It's not at all a perfect depiction of how it actually was.

Of course, I did like the movie just fine for what it is. It was happy and the songs were kind of catchy. And just like novels with the bad word in it, I don't think it should be hidden away. Because it existed and it's history. I just get why Disney doesn't want to touch it with a 30 foot pole.

Spoilers I guess.

Basically a boy gets moved out to a plantation and hates it there and wants to run away. Then the slave they called Uncle Remus started telling him stories about a fictional character named Br'er Rabbit. One of the stories is pretty much about how you should never run away and just stay where you are because it's always for the best. Some bad stuff happens and Remus gets in trouble. The boy almost dies trying to keep Remus from leaving. Remus tells him another story and he magically survives. End with singing off into the sunset.

I also just now read that Disney claims the movie was set after the slaves were freed, like the book it was based on. Which is an interesting claim. That would kind of negate a lot of the complaints, though not all.

It took place after slavery ended. There was no slavery and no one in the movie was supposed to be depicting a slave. Like I said, they were subservient to white people, and really mostly just the one landowner in particular, because she was the property owner who was employing them. It made perfect sense how it was played out, especially when you consider the era it was in.

Yeah, when you stop just instantly believing everything youre told and actually research things yourself. Its why its a bad approach to ban any type of media on merits alone because usually people who find that banned material become more attached to it than if you had left well enough alone and let people judge it for themselves. Sorta creating the radicals youre trying to avoid in the first place, if that makes any sense...

I generally do research things myself (And, well, just did. Just a little late), but a lot of things will always fall through the cracks. Especially things from when I was a kid and believed people. LOL. Better late than never, I'm never ashamed to say I was wrong.
