9/9/99

did y'all get a dreamcast at launch or while it was still actively supported? I remember my rich friend got one and I was jelly, but honestly the thing that always stuck out to me about it was that it only had 1 analog stick. I had already had my PS1 controller with dual analogs for a while at that point iirc and going back to 1 seemed like... a step backwards

The VMU is still one of the coolest things ever to exist.

I got one that Christmas I believe. Still one of my favorite consoles. Fur fighters, toy commander and the first sonic adventure were so much fun.

Oh my ...I forgot about that. IIRC MTV had their TV Music Awards on 9/9/99 as well.

Dreamcast had so much hype when it came out. I remember people lining up outside stores for it.

Power Stone War!
Dreamcast was ahead of its time. Nintendo does a lot of what Sega was trying to do.

way too underutilized honestly -- it's such a cool gimmick but the best 'games' for it are basically virtual pets

I still play mine occasionally. I use a VGA output to one of my old Viewsonic CRTs and Soul Calibur still looks great even to this day.

I didn't get one myself until early this year (january actually) and its surprising how well some of the games still play; tbh, I pretty much only play it with my friends, though. No real experience with any single player gameplay. My faves though are probably:

San Francisco Rush 2049 (battle mode is very fun)
Propeller Arena
Bomberman Online
Powerstone 2

more or less in that order

thanks for trying brother

some DC games I'd like to try some day;

Skies of Arcadia
Elemental Gimmick Gear
Zombie Revenge (this one I might actually realistically get around to)

Some DC games I didn't like but wanted to;

Fur Fighters (awful controls IMO)
Ooga Booga (same)
Re-Volt
