Sadie is far and away the best female character and probably has one of the best arcs in the entire game. I loved how they factored her into the epilogue.

Next up would probably be Ms. Grimshaw. She was so uptight and reserved for most of the game, but underneath it all she was a stone cold badass. Plus I really enjoy losing poker to her

Sadie's too manufactured, which is why so many consider her the best girl - because Rockstar put the most effort in her.

Abigail will always be my girl, though. Loved her in the first Redemption, and thought she was even better in the second game.

I honestly found her pretty obnoxious in the first game, but I liked her in the second. She just didn't do a lot to stand out.

I will say though, I wasnt crazy about Sadie's voice actress

I kinda felt like there was supposed to be more going on with Mary Beth and Arthur. There's several times throughout the game where she sits Arthur down so he can talk about his problems (all optional convos, but marked on the map), but it was weird because they don't have all that much interaction in the story parts.

I know people theorized that she was the scrapped love interest, but I still think it was probably Sadie and they realized how tone deaf it was at the last minute and dropped it.

Tilly and Molly both offer to talk to Arthur as well. I don't think Mary-Beth was ever a love interest, she's actually far too young. She's 21 years old.

Sadie bugs me because it makes RDR1 make no sense in Retrsospect.

Why didn't John ask for Sadie and Charles help?

Sadie risked her life to bust John out of prison but won't lift a finger to save Abigail and Jack? Wut?

Sadie says she is going to South America at the end, and I believe Charles says he is going to Canada.

They didn't exactly have the internet to get the message out to them back in 1911.

Edit: That's not even getting into how John wouldn't contact them on account of them also being members of Dutch's gang. You know, the gang he is actively being blackmailed into killing?

Sadie is cool, but she's a little...ugh I'm just going to say it...mary sue-ish (for a real lack of a better term here) somewhat. Or at least they were trying a bit too hard to make her seem cool/badass. She still was great though regardless.

Mary Beth might be the best. I swear there was supposed to be more there. Screw that other Mary.

And the pervert in me has Karen for runner up. I liked Ms. Grimshaw too.

You're just rationalizing.

You're not being blackmailed into killing the entire gang, just Bill, Dutch and Javier because they are active.

In fact John was just told to kill Bill. Then the stakes escalated when Javier and Dutch turned up and the assignment expanded.

John would totally want to just break Abigail and Jack out. The plot only makes sense because John is establised to have no friends.

Charles, Sadie, John and Uncle combined could easily bust Abigail and Jack free. Look how easy it was to save John in RDR2

Also, if they were only killing "active" members, why did they end up killing John at the end?

Well in the first game it was because

They had to justify their salaries. They weren't going to let John off the hook for his crimes.

But due to RDR2 it's more likely revenge for the death of Ross' buddy

I mean don't forget Archer wasn't there

There still wasn't any reasonably realistic way for him to get in contact with them. It would have been cool for Sadie and/or Charles to show up in RDR1, but it makes sense why they didn't. Plus IIRC John didn't know where his family was being held, so breaking them out wasn't really an option.

But one character they did touch on that I thought was cool was the nun. You meet her in San Denis and do all kinds of good stuff for her while telling her what a bad person you are. It's the same nun John meets in Mexico in RDR1.

Apparently, depending on other factors, Swanson can just disappear too.

At the end of the mission where you rescue Captain Monroe from being charged with treason, there's a scene that is different depending on whether you did a certain stranger quest. In my game I met up with the nun, who was boarding a train to Mexico. If you don't meet up with the nun, you meet with Swanson instead as he's boarding the train to NY.
