When I say biggest, I mean the thing you bought (prompt payment) that costed the most amount of money.

Mine was my car. Bought it this year, cost me around 14.000$.

Mutual-fund order.

Biggest physical straight-up purchase was a computer for about 2k or so.

Still, pretty expensive to me. But I'm no expert on the subject.

I bought my TV on sale for around 340 dollars. Toshiba Led Smart TV

Mine so far has been a new television to replace our dead television, which was a few hundred bucks. Other than that I haven't really spent a lot of money on anything other than food.

I've never paid more than 5k for a car. I did however draw my own floor plan and pay 170k for my house. 30k down so my mortgage is 775 a month, a lot less than most you suckers pay in rent.

Roughly how often do you buy cars? How often do you have to do non-routine maintenance on them?

Prompt payment as in, not via instalment like a mortgage?

If mortgage/financing counts, I bought an apartment for somewhere between $1.3m and $1.5m.

If not, it would be a Mercedes GLE which I bought two months ago for $120k in cash.

I didn't count investments though because technically I'm leveraged when I do these (i.e. combination of my own equity and financing) which is what enables large notionals/principal even though the mark to market value isn't huge.

Bout every 5years or so, never anything major I couldn't handle myself. Exhausts and weld jobs to them are mainly the reason she'd be in a garage. I usually find a Subaru around 100k that was taken care of, pay cash and drive away.

My last car. Cost about $18,000 after taxes. I wanted to pay for it all up front, but the biggest discount was tied to using the dealer's stupid financial services dept. to take out a loan on it (apparently now, car dealerships are more like mini-banks, and make most of their money on loan interest). I asked, "what's the most I'm allowed to pay up front and still get the deal?" and cut a check for $10,000. Then paid the rest off the first month a payment was due. Paid like $40 in interest for $1000 off on the car. Worth it.

Surprisingly true - as someone who used to work in automotive financing.
