First impressions, I love the aesthetic end the setting but these controls are throwing me off. I've already died twice without making it past the bad guys outside of the beginning Hut after you jump out the window

I have a question. Are there some areas you can only see in the harder difficulties? I swear a friend of mine mentions an area I never saw when I played it.

You playing on PC?

The tank controls can be confusing at first, but they're really not as limiting as people make them out to be... and they make the fights more tense. There's a combinations of buttons you can push to make leon do a quick 180 so you can turn and create space between you and the enemies for more time to shoot... once you get that down... it's a cake walk.

There are side missions you can open up once you clear the main game once. They feature areas that aren't in the main quest with leon

I wasn't aware there was an easy... I think there's just normal and "professional" which is the hard mode. You unlock professional by beating it once on normal. Beating it on professional unlocks extra weapons, one of them, is broken as hell... but really fun to use.

Also, after beating on normal, you unlock a side mode that's basically a point attack mode where you kill as many zombies as you can within a time limit, chaining them together for bonuses and such. Getting a high score on each level with each character unlocks yet another really fun broken weapon... definitely worth going for.

Yeah, the controls are weird. I played the ps2 version. When I first played it, I was used to it because the ps2 version's controls are about the same as the past resident evil games.

But I recently played it again and it was hard after getting used to the p3 and ps4 controls.

You know, it's like L1 to aim and R1 to shoot for almost every game. In the ps2 version it's like R1 to aim and X to shoot.

It confused the fuck out of me.

Just googled and apparently the maze isn't available on easy.

I have the PAL version which has the Easy mode, I've played it on easy and normal mode and easy has areas that are completely removed:

1 -The hedge maze isn't acessable, the stairs down to it are blocked by a wall and you can go straight into the room, the door is simply not there in Easy mode

2 - Some rooms at the beginning of the castle are not accessable, you don't need a key and can go right into the castle instead

3 - The Clock Tower is also skipped, the lever is located on the outside of it

4 - The room with Knights is also skipped, the item you get from there is already in place in Easy Mode

I think that's it

The game has adaptive difficulty, so if you mess up, miss when shooting enemies, die ect the difficulty will lower so you'll get less enemies / more health drops and whatnot - also soon as you get to the village just run into the main part so they can't corner you, when shooting aim for their legs as it stuns them, then if you're close enough you can do a melee attack on them - if you want a treat be sure to enter the two storey house in the village when you there too

Just run into the only two storey house in that area, there's some ammo there, go upstairs and you can grab another weapon, knock the ladder by one of the windows down so they can't climb up, jump out the other and you're on the roof area, kill any around and just stay up there if you want, you don't have to kill every single villager you just need to wait until a cutscene is triggered

RE4 is a grand experience

If you want a gameplay tip

Headshot/kneeshot (they will stumble) > Roundhouse kick QTE > Run up and Knife them while they are down

^ Those are the basics of combat and it will carry you through the game for the most part. Adequate use of weapons and bottlenecking too

Wish you could shoot and move huh?

Once you've had your run of the immensely popular cube great, try out the completely unknown ps2 game from sce and namco that plays similarly except you can move and shoot:

Ghost hunter!

The game is absolutely fantastic all the way up to the point you can blatantly tell they ran out of budget and had to wrap it up!

Is it worth it if I didn't really like Resident Evil 1 or 2? I had it on Wii and stopped around the time with the boulder IIRC. So maybe an hour? I dunno, the control scheme made it too frustrating to play. I'm tempted ot give the HD version on PC a try if it's not completely puzzle based.

It's different to the original RE games, it's more action based and less scary, I have it on PS2 and I didn't find the controls an issue - I remember it taking me more time to get used to the controls in the older games than in RE4.

And there are a few puzzles but they're not an issue at all!

Be careful with treasure.

If it says it looks like it has sockets or whatever, hold on to it to get way more.

Also, eventually you'll find a lake.

Before getting in the boat, shoot a few of the fish, they make great healing items.

Okay so I gave this game a good shot now I am stocked up from the merchants and I have that key to the door all the villagers ran into in the beginning of the game. I'm not going to open it yet because I have a treasure map and I want to go pick some stuff up on that path to where I found that guy in the dresser.

I haven't found the lake yet but I did find a little watery and I shot and killed a bass but it was too big to fit in my inventory so I just left it

Overall I'm really starting to like the game as I'm somewhat used to the controls anyway so I don't feel so vulnerable anymore
