this is in stark contrast of the last 80 years where no one ever had a reported marijuana death, now pot brownies & vapes have claimed lives. not the only case either and some are pushing to outlaw e-cigs and marijuana vapes, they both increase risk of heart attack stroke and heart disease by 25% (according to a study)

Yeah, let's outlaw alcohol, cigarettes, and unhealthy fast food and snacks while we're at it, I'm sure that'll go well.

cigarettes used to be healthy but they laced it with garbage and marked up the price. e-cigs are not safer and all research suggests theyre more dangerous because ppl are getting put in medically induced comas after just 3 weeks to 3 plus years of vaping. and just yesterday (i been medical since 2016) i have been suffering lung damage similar to bronchitis and i surely dont care to bash my own med.

it killed in 3 years, tobacco usually takes about 30 to give you lung cancer.

""These street vapes are very, very dangerous. My brother nearly lost his life," said Patrick DeGrave, the victim's brother.

The last few days have been touch and go for the Burlington man.

"The trauma that he caused to his lungs is significant; the trauma that he caused to his heart is significant," DeGrave said."

"Cannabinoids, marijuana's active compounds such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabinol, like to stick to fat, which is abundant in breast milk. This stickiness suggests that in women who use marijuana, these compounds can end up in breast milk, raising concerns about their potential effects on nursing babies."
could potentially increase risk of heart problems in an infant, since it raises cardiovascular risks and is found abundantly in breastmilk.

as for fast food, most restaurants are already cleaning up on additives and fillers. as for alcohol the dangers are well known, but nobody ever told me im gonna die if i keep vaping a medicinal herb, yet its happening to ppl and my bronchitis symptoms are very real.

Ah. Scare mongering over Vaping yet again. I haven't heard of anyone dying over vaping nic and even if they did it's less chance than smoking. As for weed? Not many folk die from smoking/vaping that too. Chances are these folk who do already have health issues.

I'd imagine it doesn't have the data that cigarettes do to see how dangerous it really is and with different methods of taking it becoming more prominent would add to that.

ive been medical for 4 years and vaping heavily, and i have chest tightness, severe shortness of breath (most likely temporary im detoxing), lethargy, sharp chest pains, confusion, random tachycardia, frequent cough w/phlegm discharge, and i feel restless and sleep early and longer. now that ive abstained from chronic use, im having nightmares, depression and heightened anxiety. and im medically licensed, so whats your excuse that i deserve all these symptoms because i have one of the qualifying conditions other than pharma meds suck and kill you? nothing.

You've said this multiple times, but none of the articles you posted substantiate this. All you have is one case where an elderly man with pre-existing heart problems consumed 12 joints worth of THC in a single sitting and had a heart attack.

Also, there's currently no evidence that THC is causing the vaping problem.

Did you actually read that article? Their own summary just says that more research needs to be done because it may pose health risks and their anecdotal evidence was an elderly man who already had coronary artery disease taking a dosage of 90mg which is an extremely large dose

anything people do poses some risk but vapes are way, way safer than smoking, drinking alcohol, or even driving a car

edibles are safer than breathing city air

It can in very rare cases

Swimming in a lake has a rare chance of causing a person to be infected in a brain eating amoeba which has nearly a 100% mortality rate, I guess nobody should ever swim in lakes again

Fast food has nutritional value (because it's just food) and even alcohol has caloric content that can stave off starvation, but cigarettes and marijuana don't. People frequently bring up cigarettes in the marijuana debate, but I imagine these days most people would be fine with banning those, too. It's really just alcohol -- which is responsible for a third of all car crashes, plays into a lot of crimes, and is closely linked to domestic abuse, and generally ruins society -- that people turn a blind eye towards. Fast food is more demonized than alcohol in this country and that's completely fucked up.

Marijuana also has a link to other illegal behavior, but it's nowhere near as bad as alcohol.

Okay, ban cigarettes, too. But first keep in mind that it takes decades for cigarettes to reach the point of tremendous harm whereas marijuana can result in much sooner deaths and the overall lasting impact of marijuana won't be known until it happens.

Given that vaping is a newer thing, it's probably going to be decades before we can assess long-term damage. However, there HAS been significant short-term damage since the "vape lung" incidents started and, ironically enough, you posted your comment within 24 hours of the first vape-related death (not counting malfunctions where the device exploded which, according to the BBC, previously killed at least two people).

https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/addiction/news/20190823/first-death-reported-as-cases-linked-to-vaping-rise

https://techcrunch.com/2019/08/23/vape-lung-has-claimed-its-first-victim-and-the-cdc-is-investigating/

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49452256

WaPo's information generated for the search preview mentions that the victim was a hiker prior to this.

Lol.

Nowhere in the article does it say he died.

I still get what you're saying, but a bad trip could definitely give you a heart attack just like anything terrifying might give you a heart attack.

I recommend people stay away from weed just because the bad trips suck ass for a couple of hours. That, and the people who enjoy it that I know spend every ounce of their disposable income on it, as very few human beings have any antiquate self-control whatsoever. It's very annoying when your stoner friends solve the problem of their life going nowhere by getting high.
