I'm not saying it's the best song of all time so all you guys running into the topic to scream about Bohemian Rhapsody, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Kesha, Thriller etc can cool it for a moment.

I just mean the intro.

Just that kickass guitar rift.
Then the
Ah-ah, ah!
Ah-ah, ah!
We come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun, where the hot springs flow

It's so badass.
What other song comes close?

Nah, It's gotta be a rap song.

They get so creative with their intros. Don't think I've ever Google'd the intro for a rock song just to learn about it.

Crazy Train is up there, but I hate how different the rest of the song is.

Layla's also a solid choice.

Turn the Page but that's a personal opinion.

Specifically the Bob Seger version, not that abomination Metallica made.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on that one.
To me Layla is all about the Fade out. Which comprises almost half the song.
I also feel the same way about Hey Jude to a degree.

Both songs were almost written backwards...as it were.

It's hard to explain, but those two songs have such great fade-outs, that it almost eclipses the song itself.

I mean this all in a good way.

And for me, back to TC point, For Zepplin, I would go with Kashmir.

Steve Miller Band's Song for Our Ancestors starts with a minute and a half consisting almost solely of waves crashing and foghorns. How epic is that?

I know we're just talking about pop music here, so an honorable mention has to got to The Beatles, I Feel Fine.

Arguably the first time reverb was used on a track in pop music.
