I have been through google and apparently nobody else has asked this question.

During what I'd guess I'd call "quiet phases" in the original Half Life -- the parts where I'm just navigating through tunnels and whatnot with very little enemy interference -- I can hear a woman moaning. It happens quite regularly, and can't be ignored, which is why I'm baffled that I can't find anything about this on google.

It doesn't seem to signify any event or anything. It seems to be during random times that I hear this sound effect. Does anybody know what it is?

I'm trying to find it in a walkthrough on youtube. I listened for it during those specific times when I knew I had heard it, but haven't found it yet.

It would make sense if I had an additional sfx in the game that normally isn't if I had bought a pirated version of the game. But I got this directly through steam. One of the users here actually bought it for me during one of those friendly steam sale gift topics, but that shouldn't make a difference, should it?

Ha, I took a shot. It's a video of ambient sounds, so it's possible you hear it super muffled in the actual game.

You can go through the rest of the video, I just skimmed it. It claims to be all the ambient noises in HL1, so it should have that noise in it.

Once at the 0:10 mark, then again, more clearly, at the 0:20 mark.

Might need to turn the volume up a bit to hear it. Definitely better with headphones.

Well the purpose of the topic was to have a question answered. My question has been answered. I'd say the topic is successful, as its purpose was fulfilled.

Not every topic has to be a masterpiece that inspires each person who reads through it to change the world. This one was just made by a guy who wanted to know what a sound effect was that he heard in a video game.

That's what I've been thinking the whole time. I knew it was intended to be something else. But what I've been hearing the whole time is pretty unmistakable -- even more so in the clip from post #17.
