For the longest time i couldn't watch this as a kid because the goblins scared me.

Still holds up especially the practical effects.

Hoggle, Ludo and Jareth all appear before the goblins take Toby away while Sarah is in her room.

Hoggle is on the book holder, Jareth is by the mirror and Ludo is on the shelf by her door. Didn't notice this til now despite watching the movie a lot.

David Bowie's movie career is fascinating. He's been in a couple of stinkers, but hes always...you know, him.

I recommend a 70s sci fi classic called The Man Who Fell to Earth. Modern "adult" science fiction movies owe a great deal of debt to 2001, Alien and such, but I feel this one is criminally underexposed. And it owes as much to Bowie's performance and presence; as human as it is alien, as it does any other creative decision.
