That you think could actually make it in prison?

The higher level types might be different. I've just noticed most of these weed dealers out here would get their judy cakes taken the first week of a level 3 prison or higher.

Well if you smoke weed in a non legal state you're pretty much forced to deal with them unless you wanna take a risk through the mail

You mean these high schoolers wouldn't make it in prison?

Even I did some light work in my teens. Middle man and briefly had my own thing. I lost my reup funds and thought they got stolen, so i moved on. Found the money like 7 years later in a game case. But the stuff I held is legal in Michigan now anyway. Id never walk around with prison time stuff.

No the 30 year old people that are still slinging weed for a living usually have the mindset of a high schooler. I guess that isn't a big surprise though.

Were you slinging xans or some shit when you lost that money lol? Must have been some good fuckin weed if not

It was just weed and I was just poor. I think I just didn't care and used the 1st excuse to stop. I really never had the respect for money most people do. I liked helping family, just to help. I was the nice guy that would of probably got fucked over at any opportunity people had, at that age. Wasn't til my 20s I realized it's a disservice to yourself when you're too nice.

the dudes that slang on the streets of real rough urban areas like Baltimore or Detroit would probably fare OK. like Bodie from The Wire would probably hold his own

I didn't really give much detail and Im not promoting it or making it sound like a good thing. So I dunno what mods think about it tbh

Bodie was a snitch.

He couldn't handle the fact that Avon lost the turf war and Marlo ran a tight ship.

I co-sign this as well. Which is probably part of the reason why I think mods shouldn't care what I posted.

nah, he disliked Marlo because Marlo was a piece of shit who didn't follow the unspoken rules of the game.

Marlo was an asshole though and that's something when 99% of everyone in the Wire is an asshole. He probably would have found some flimsy excuse to kill Bodie eventually anyway.

eh I dunno I've seen both varieties
I guess it depends on what you mean by street level though, if you're buying any real weight I guess you're probably not really dealing with a 'street level' guy

i had to abandon the sopranos at the season 5 finale, do u think the same will happen with the wire?

i thought Sopranos was top tier through and through until the end. did you just lose interest?

i think The Wire is GOAT piece of fiction. its the best story i've ever experienced. currently on my 6th watch through

I think seasons 1, 3, and 4 are universally loved. I actually really like season 2 still though. But season 5 is definitely the most different altogether. Id say the last 2-3 episodes are easily the most far fetched of the whole series, though still quality.

it got too hard to watch. a show needs likeable characters imo. i was just shocked and disgusted all the time and it was really emotionally exhausting

Ehhhh, if that was why you stopped watching The Sopranos, I don't know if you'll like The Wire. TW can get heavy. Real heavy.

Who knows though. Give it a shot. It's one of if not the best show ever.

some characters in The Wire are likable, but almost all of them are flawed somehow. the show can be emotionally draining because it does a great job at reflecting real life. there are some real sad moments, too. but holy shit is it good television.

like, the cops (ie the 'good guys') almost all have severe shortcomings. the 'hero' police is a drunk and is willing to compromise on his morals to achieve his end goals.

but OTOH some of the drug dealers (ie the 'bad guys') generate a lot of empathy (Bodie) and even though you see them doing objectively bad things like murder you still feel bad for them. one of my favorite characters on the show is a homeless junkie. another one of my favorites is a drug dealer and another one of my favorites is a guy who makes a living robbing drug dealers.

My dealer is a spiritual shaman. I'm not even joking.

For a fee he'll set up a ritual and you can trip on Ayahuasca (DMT) while he's doing a bunch of crazy traditional shit.

But yeah, he'd make a way better hippy than a prison convict so TC's point stands.

Also, on a somewhat stupid note, The Wire has given us some of the greatest gifs of all time.
