Religion has so many plot holes, issues, problems, lack of proof, people profiting by taking advantage and is insanely illogical. If there was a God hed be incompetent to say the least.

Wouldn't you agree that the idea of a deity that requires ANYTHING out of their creations is absurd? Then why would you even consider such a thing?

Maybe you're not making any statement about a deity but rather about their believers. That's more than fine, but it's not the topic, right.

Before we can speak about devotion we need to have a pretty good idea of what god it is that we're devoted to. And therefore what exactly that devotion means, what it entails. Right? Then maybe we'll find that looking at it as some sort of bondage is just a prejudice.

I think its more pertinent than the supposed nature of any gods. Until gods are proven to exist, arguing about their moral character is about as meaningful to me as arguing about the moral character of Harry Dresden. Sure, its kinda interesting, but at the end of the day it really doesnt matter all that much. If people find their lives meaningless without subservience to a questionably existent being, thats kind of a big deal to me.
