Maybe one day sexual assault against men will with be treated as seriously as sexual assault towards women.

Maybe one day a female sexual predator will be given the same jail sentence as a male sexual predator.

Equality of outcome is impossible. If you divide people by any criterion equality of outcome will always be impossible. Equality of opportunity is possible though.

For western society, I think we've reached it for the most part. There's obviously some back and forth on both sides, but literal equality is impossible.

Economically, yes, as in women are able to get most if not all of the same career opportunities men can.

Socially, no, when considering that statistically speaking men and women on average make different career choices (have different priorities) when it's left up to them to decide under conditions of equal opportunity. The more a nation presses to achieve absolute gender equality under the law, the more this phenomena is apparent.

The easiest way to think about why outcome is impossible is to just imagine a no gender restrictions weight lifting contest. I can guarantee anyone has the opportunity to enter, regardless of gender. I can't make any kind of guarantee the winners won't all be men, and it seems unlikely you could ever prevent that from happing based on the world records for female weight lifters hovering in the amateur range for men. Some things just cannot be made equal.

If there's actual equality, nobody would care.

We had equality at one time, and then we decided it would be a good idea not to. We're not striving for some new, unseen future horizon when we fight for equality, we're trying to get back to the way things are supposed to be, and were before.
