I did end up getting an improved 360 after mine died just cause red ring of death wasnt as big of a concern on them. Your reward for being an early adopter is the 2.5 years of fun you've had with your Switch so far; this exchange program (if it were true) would be an effort to build trust with customers by demonstrating that they wouldn't have to worry about missing out on an upgrade in the immediate future if they were to buy a non-upgraded one now.
